They both work. Just like color and colour. To most people, one sounds better than the other. While there is no difference. The math version is only used in the USA. The rest of the world uses maths.

Well its like how the Americans say 'pants' and we brits say 'trousers'. Not saying OP isnt 13, just saying that we speak different ways, but we aren't altering the English language.
