I don't feel like all year one weapons should ascend to year two. If they made different difficulty levels for Vault of Glass, and Crota, and the gear made worth while. That's all I feel is needed, I for one would not mind 're-running everything to gain what I had back

So you'd rather spend more time getting the same gear vs just getting a material that would take far less time getting to ascend said weapons and gear? Yeah that makes no sense

It doesn't matter to me how long I spend getting items. It's not the gear I play for, it's the experience, I find a great group and have a blast playing the game. It doesn't feel like a grind anymore. It seems to men that there are treating this game like any other FPS. When in reality even Bungle didn't know what to make of the game. The biggest mistake I feel Bungie made was increasing the level with the first two "DLC". Instead they should have had us level sideways, given us more missions, more guns, and just put in the new leveling system in with TTK. Being able to ascend your gear was the worst idea, it gave players a sense of entitlement. It made them feel like the developers would bend to their will. And now that it's no longer available, people are up in arms about it. Games are meant to be played because toy enjoy playing them. If it becomes a chore, then you're not having fun anymore. I would reccomend playing something else , and come back it the mood strikes you.

Would it not become a chore if you constantly have to spend hours in it? Customization leading to entitlement? I'm sorry but that just isn't true. Some people who are assholes will always be assholes no matter what. And being able to bring gear forward on your journey has nothing to do with entitlement. If we liked something that they created for the player and we want to bring it forward, it's more of a compliment than anything else.

I guess we'll have to agree, to disagree. Ascending gear is what made the gear from the vault and crota useless. I've spent countless hours to gain the gear from both. Even bought the gear from the prison, just to keep up. I had guns I loved to use, and stuck with those for most of the events. With the new system i had to learn to adapt again, it felt like I was learning the rules over again. And Honestly it has become more enjoyable for me than it was before. If I had the opportunity to run the older raids with a higher light level if only to gain back my gear, I would happily do so.

Ascending gear made raid gear useless? Ascending low level raid gear to the highest level made it useless? That makes zero sense.

By ascending it, you didn't have to work as hard for your gear. You completed an objective, and you were able to raise your level, wait a week, and repeat. The specs on the prisons gear were designed for the prison. Unless someone wanted to grind once a week or somehow managed to make it through the prison on multiple levels multiple times, to level up all of their gear. The new system i feel works better, and I would gladly run the raids again to get my favorite weapons. Again agree to disagree, I have my opinion you have yours.
