On the mission Lost to Light where you fight the ogre in the background there is an enormous skeleton in the background which appears only to be the ribcage of some beast. What do you guys think?

 • On the topic of the main subject, as many people are pointing out, this is likely the bones of one of the Hive's Worm Gods, used to burrow out the Hive's tunnels on the Moon. However, that does not mean you're wrong about the Ahamkara either. There's a lot of people in the comments who are arguing over whether or not the Hive's Worm Gods are the same as the Ahamkara or not. "They're Worms, not Dragons." Let's have a little walk through the Books of Sorrow. Chapter V: "The worm — Carved in my code by Sathona — Who should be afraid — 1. It was my father’s familiar. I ripped it from him as we fled. It is a dead white thing, segmented, washed up from the deep sea. 2. It’s dead, but it still speaks to me. It says: listen closely, oh vengeance mine..." Sathona, Xi Ro and Aurash's sister, took their father's dead Worm from him, described in Chapter II thusly: "... his familiar, a dead white worm from the deep sea. He keeps it in glass, and he tends to it, and he neglects the duties of a king." Chapter VI: “We have to dive,” Sathona said, following the whispers of her familiar. “In the world beneath us, in the metallic depths, I hope we may find what we need most...” In Chapter VIII, Sathona uses the line. "Let us dive, oh sisters mine." Chapter IX: "Behold my passage. Behold my vast displacement, my ponderous strength, my great and coiling length, my folded jaws and curled wings. Behold the hiving cities symbiotic with my flesh. I am fecund, Aurash. I am at the beginning and end of lives." These Worms... Are not mere worms. If you are like me, when we first started having talk of these Great Worms, there's a chance that you probably imagined the Riftworm from Gears of War 2. It's certainly got the right kind of image to it, doesn't it? Great, hulking beastie with massive jaws, capable of swallowing up whole cities, symbiotic parasites within it, worshipped as a God by its people. But... Wings? We have no wings on this Worm. A worm with wings might prove to be an alien concept to all of us, but these are alien creatures. However, I think not. I think we're speaking of a Worm of a different breed. From Wikipedia, European Dragon: "The word for dragon in Germanic mythology and its descendants is worm (Old English: wyrm, Old High German: wurm, Old Norse: ormr), meaning snake or serpent. In Old English, wyrm means "serpent", and draca means "dragon."" Perhaps in thinking about them as Worms, we've been misled. Instead, let us think of them as Wyrms. Sometimes, Wyrms ARE even portrayed more worm-like, lacking wings. You might even bring to mind the idea of a Chinese Dragon, which is certainly a similar concept. The only creature we know of in Destiny lore that seems to have the "dead Gods still dream" effect is the Ahamkara, who Variks even makes a remark about in that their old bones still whisper to people in another Grimoire card "Skolas: Defeated." Specifically, old bones whispering flatteries. Reading the descriptions of the various different Ahamkara items in the game, they seem to slowly twist the minds of those who would venture near them, let alone wear them, by whispering words into their minds. They do so in a manner that generally could be seen as polite, flattering, finishing often with their token phrase, "oh bearer mine." I invite you to read Chapter IX of the Book of Sorrows. The Bargain. You find quickly that the Honest Worm speaks to young Oryx in a rather exalting matter, offering its bargain in a manner that, to us, seems clear that it's trying to appeal to these three by essentially calling them heroes, ready to save their race, and strike back against those who were unjust toward them, and by calling attention to their greatest qualities. It offers them flatteries in an attempt to gain their favor. And most definitely, it succeeds. And Chapter XII again brings forth our favorite line again. "Reality is a fine flesh, oh general ours. Let us feast of it." This is, verbatim, a restatement of the description of the Skull of Dire Ahamkara: "Reality is the finest flesh, oh bearer mine. And are you not... Hungry?" The Worms use the very same lines that the Ahamkara use, have the same mannerisms, and offer the same thing: Power, for a price. The Vanguard knew of the Ahamkara, too. Guardians would seek them out, hoping to gain power and knowledge, hoping to have wishes granted. But it always backfired, doing more harm than good. The Ahamkara had answers to things that nobody ever even thought about. And always, there was a price. The Vanguard deemed them a threat because of their price and the tendency to have things backfire, and ordered the Great Hunt to see them to extinction. Supposedly they succeeded, but those old bones still whisper. In Chapter XXVIII of the Book of Sorrows, Oryx seeks out Akka, Worm of Secrets, who knows the answers to many things, but will give none, and when it speaks, it often lies. It knows of great powers, it knows how to call upon the Darkness itself-- Which is a power Oryx seeks, and that he ultimately gains by slaying Akka, because that is the way of the Darkness. If you want something, you must take it, because it will not be given. Oryx takes this knowledge from him by killing him, and gains the power to create the Taken. The bargains, the mannerisms, the speech patterns, the descriptions, the abilities-- These creatures are one and the same. Make no mistake, these parallels drawn are intentional. The Hive do not worship mere Worms, but also Wyrms. They may not be the same as conventional Dragons, per se, as they still have a larval phase, but they are most definitely the same beings. As an afterthought, it is also worth considering that if the Hive Worms truly are Dragons, then this fits with their mythology. The Hive have Knights, Wizards, Ogres, Princes, and Kings-- Does it not make sense that a Dragon sits at the top of their pantheon? I've spoken my words. If you disagree, I ask that you bring me evidence of the opposite, as I believe I've covered all bases.
