I was just cruising around the moon when I started hearing this weird low-pitch sound. I was at the area between Archer's line and Anchor of light, where there's literally no enemies. I heard that the low sound was an indicator of a piece of sleeper simulant being near, and that pocket infinity had something to do with it, so I took it out and basically started shooting at random places to see what happened. I hit a point on top of one of the rocks almost in the out of bounds area and pointed it straight at the broken satellite in the sky. Then something weird happened. Pocket infinity usually fires in rapid succession in its full auto mode, but this time it fired in slow, 1 second intervals. Then, after a certain point of me moving it around some more, it shot really slowly, then stopped at one anno left in the mag and didn't shoot again. It just stayed in place, looking ready to fire, but not doing anything. This is the exact way a radar works if you replace it from speeding up as you got close to treasure, to slowing down. I don't have one of the relics on me, so that was as far as I got, but please! Someone confirm this so I know its not a coincidence!
Edit: I'm uploading a video for proof. I'll have the link up shortly. You can even hear the low-pitched music if you have headphones on.
Edit 2: Here's the link- https://youtu.be/mPoGiODuTF8
Edit 3: So a lot of people are saying that the PI has a glitch where it shoots slowly if you shoot it at the sky in general. I tried it out, and turns out it did the same thing there as well. I don't know if that means anything, but I appreciate all the comments and advice you guys are giving.

Just wanted to add something, the gunsmith says "sounds like music" when you turn the last fusion rifle to him. I heard sounds like music and went down to the bar in the tower where Xur is sometimes. I started playing the music on the wall and noticed a map with two knives in it (perhaps locations). Although the map is foreign to me, maybe you guys can figure out where that is? Or if it's just fake? Probably not right but worth noting
-
Its a glitch. You can stand anywhere in the game and shoot at the skybox and the pocket infinity perk will glitch out and slow the gun down.
-
Maybe we need to scan something in order to unlock the quest? Something we aren't or are doing is wrong, or bungie just hasn't released it yet. There's a plethora of things to scan so I wouldn't doubt that a particular order is necessary

That slow firing happens every so often, it's nothing new

Edited by Lucario202: 10/4/2015 1:42:41 AMPeople need to give up on this pocket infinity theory already! 1. (Invalid) 2. Pocket infinity has always been kind of glitchy so that could explain this "sonar" 3. Probably the most important, the ONLY WAY to get pocket infinity now is from legacy engram. Bungie would not base an exotic quest on this small chance Edit: I've been told point one is wrong

Mega fail

Edited by FTW Reverend: 10/7/2015 9:19:20 PMWhy would they make an exotic that you have to use another exotic to find? Not everyone has pocket infinity and I don't believe they would lock content behind a gun that is no longer obtainable. There is a high chance pocket infinity has nothing to do with sleeper stimulant. Edit- I know TLW is used for the chaperone. TLW is a year two exotic so it's in RNG. Pocket infinity is only available through a legacy engram at a year 1 attack. I will rephrase my original point... Why would they make a year 1 exotic a requirement for a year 2 exotic? EDIT 2- as of today 10/7/15 the SS quest has been activated without PI. :-)

Pretty sure that's just the gun breaking. It was doing the while slow down thing while I was doing Vault of Glass and Crota's End months ago.

Edited by shdhissjdnssodjn: 10/3/2015 11:41:36 PMFun Fact: the Pocket Infinity was my first exotic weapon in Destiny.

Edited by Corrick II: 10/3/2015 11:38:01 PMThese theories give Bungie way more credit than they might deserve. Yes, they created a world where we think this stuff is real but forget it's a game where actual money and man power has to go into these things. The imagination reels at the possibilities but their budget and time was finite.

Homing: tracking. Does something as you get closer to a target. Sonar: emits a sound pulse. Pings as an object is detected in most cases. Radar: emits a photonic wave. This is what we use in Halo, Destiny, and in jets.

Is it bad Im more interested in finding twilight garrison than sleeper simulant lmao

Anyone else think lag straight away?

For later tests

Ha, that is not how radar works. At all. More like a homing beacon. Which btw is absolutely nothing like radar. Please stay in school.

Man.. I had the pocket infinity with me for so long in year one.. Then deleted it like a month before TTK to make room and now I don't have it anymore

Edited by Hoggzi: 10/3/2015 11:19:52 PMBump please

I agree that this is most likely a glitch. I've had this happen with the mythoclast, where it had ~2 second charge time. However, props for the theory. It would be awesome if this is related to the SS. Keep Looking.

I find it funny that vanilla destiny had zero story, and then black spindle is found HIDDEN in a daily,... you know a single room away. And here we are all going nuts trying to figure out the mystery. The mystery is really why we believe bungie is capable of this. From dipping maps in water, to trying to figure out netcode on in game computers.... were the crazy ones. Bungie is either having a field day with all this, or wondering how our ideas are 10x better than the actual plan of this gun.

The only radar here was my ghosts bullshit detector perk
-
Its a glitch, its been doing that since the first nerf over a year ago.

after watching that video i want to level up my pocket infinity... i never gave it a fair chance. everyone told me it was usless T.T but it looks so fun
-
it's been glitched for some time i deleted that gun months back and for some reason it never appeared on my blueprint list for y2. i guess you had to currently have one for it to change over? not just the grimore
