Makes sense. There will be less trolls who don't even own Destiny on the forums. Haters with accounts will be banished. Bungie's connection with Halo ended 5 years ago. Those who owned the Bungie Halo games, have an account and do not own Destiny will not be losing any sleep that their inactive accounts will be removed. This will be a forum for actual Destiny players. I don't understand the butthurt over this. I doubt any current Halo players, who don't own Destiny, even use these forums anymore and if there are it must be a teeny tiny percentage. Offtopic? Its usually full of nonsense like "I changed my baby's diaper, AMA". If the old Halo community are in the Offtopic section of these forums asking what their favorite food, game, TV show, actor etc. is on every second thread, then they are not here for Halo are they? There's a thing called Reddit nowadays which I am sure have a dedicated Halo section like Destiny. True Halo/Bungie fans bought Destiny. Doesn't matter if they played Destiny for two days or played it for one year, they are still Destiny players. A large proportion of old Halo players are Destiny players. Those that aren't were charlatan Bungie fans. There is absolutely no way a true Halo fan would pass up on Destiny with the marketing it had between early 2013 and the launch in September 2014. This game sold on Bungie's leagcy alone, period!

 • Coming from Offtopic: You don't seem to understand. And the sadder part is that I'm not sure how to explain to you, or to anyone, the atrocity in this new restriction. When bungie created Halo, and maybe some other games (I'm not quite sure) they formed a very loyal fanbase. This fanbase bought all the Halo games they made, and encouraged their friends to buy it, thus multiplying the fanbase even more. Then 343 took Halo, and Activision is taking credit for their new game Destiny. To most Floodians, 343 just didn't do it right, and it will always, always be considered a bungie game. So, they all gather on b.net. But they are no longer welcome anywhere except #Gaming and #Offtopic, because everything else is all about Destiny. You bring up some good points: Yes, most people who are loyal to bungie would have bought Destiny. But you don't have to blindly follow something in order to love it. Maybe some of them waited, to see the reviews. Maybe some of them heard about how bored people got after the first month or so, because they completed the whole story by then, then heard that they'd have to pay more for more content, or that a bunch of veteran employees had been fired or just simply quit. Then maybe these few people decided: "You know what? I don't think it's a good idea to buy this game. It seems like a lot of people are getting screwed over." Whatever the reason(s), I have no doubt that these people are justified. Another point you brought up: Offtopic is full of unrelated shitposts (yes that's what we call it), and hardly any of it has to do with Halo. But since you obviously don't spend much time there, you can't tell what the difference would be if an individual person had to leave.
A man goes to the local beach early in the morning, to watch the sunrise. He sees a younger boy, picking up beached starfish and tossing them back into the ocean. He says to the boy: "Why do you even bother? The sun will be up, and there's no way you'll be able to get all of them, or make a huge difference." The boy tosses another starfish into the ocean, and looks at him. "Maybe not, but it made a world of a difference for that one."
(Just a story I heard once, figured it was relevant.) What I want to convey is that Offtopic is, in a way, the floods' home. Offtopic would not be the same without them, and they would not be the same without Offtopic. You say they can find another forum to spout their nonsense, but it would be like switching schools - the same kind of people, but not the same people. As a Destiny-Only player, I would be sad to see these people go. I would probably leave the forums altogether, because I see how Bungie treats their community.

 • Plenty of them do. I'd say the majority of Destiny players were Halo players first. They stuck around because of the friends and groups. 10 years for some of them.
