Halo 3: How To Rank Up.
I have made this topic to help people to achieve a higher rank. Post with a simple message saying you want help and I will evaluate your Service Record and explain the best way for you to effectively increase your rank on Halo 3. Can be high skill specific or playlist specific. I'm bored :P I have a good knowledge of the game so I should be able to help.

[/quote] You seem to be reliant upon Beatdown and Melee and if you want to get higher you need to focus on using a BR as it is the most controverisial but effective weapon in Halo 3. It is best to keep mid range so you can increase your chances of out skilling your opponent. If you both rush with ARs, you don't want to just trade kills. Read my other posts for Team tips. For Lone Wolves you need to control 2 things. Power weapons and Locations. You want a strong position where you can hold and *cough* steal kills. Stay up high like at the top of Epitaph. Lot's of people run bottom mid and you can clean them up and get free easy kills. You need to get power wepons as they are really effective in LW. Rockets guarentees 4 kills (with 4 ammo). Shotty is good for maps with shield doors but I suggest on maps like the Pit you avoid shooty and use BR/Snipe combo. If you hold sniper tower you can pick off people on your side of the map and is great for easy spawn kills.

I managed a 43 in LW but i seem to lose so much now i can't kill people even when there easy killls.

Your games show that your team uses very little communication or set-up. You can pay with people who are not amazing at Halo, keep your friends, however, you guys need to play as a team. Read up all my posts about teamwork and get them to try it. If they don't want to then keep playing with them for fun but find new teammates for TS if you want your 50 that badly.

I had the problem of Halo 3 being my first online FPS and I had no clue what I was doing haha. It took a while but I eventually got into it. It was a slow process at first, I managed to be a grade 3 everything :P. But, ultimately the things that helped my individual skill were: Customs with Generals. I played lots of MLG customs with better players who taught me how to play and think smart. Playing as a 3. I played as a team of 3 and started in social, getting to know my teammates who have now become great friends. We played lots and worked on teamwork and once we felt ready we went into TS. We soon found ourselves winning 90% of the games. Once we were all 50s we achieved a 97/100 win record on our 50s. We ALWAYS know what we will be doing when we are in the lobby. Individual Skill. I didn't like bump jump at first but it grew on me, it isn't for everyone though. I got better with the sniper and BR by just using it all the time. My nsipe is now very strong and my BR decent. I also moved onto learning useful jumps and trick nade placements. Nade placements are very important on opening rushes. You need to play smart and have a good aim. You want to be winning all of your 1v1s, however, with teamwork this is a minor issue. If you want more specific help then please detail exacally what you need me to explain or give help on.

Do you have some advice for me? I got the 42 in LW in February last year, but I didn´t play to my max level because I quit Halo for a month. (I´m a 26 right now in LW, the achievement whore within me let me derank for two for one) I´m also a 30 in TS and Team Swat (I played without a team just with random guys, never communicated) And I´m a 27 in Team Doubles (played with a friend of mine, he´s not the best, highest skill 24) (I´ve also quitted over 200 times overall hope this doesn´t let rank up slower) [Edited on 06.15.2009 11:26 PM PDT]

This should be an interesting one. I have dial up & no hard drive, so I can't get any maps, that leaves me limited to Social Slayer and Lone Wolves. It doesn't matter to me if you take into account the lag/connection problems or not, but have a go at this. Oh, and, thanks for providing a great service to the community. I'm not exactly having trouble, but WTH! Also, am I right that you get a rank up when you are beat someone who is higher rank than you?(In lone wolves at least.)Because once, I got 2 ranks up from one game! MP
