Is this Exotic sword quest for real....
Me and my friend searched Mars for an hour for these "rare elements" and got 0. So we tried the moon for an hour and a half and I got one and he still hasn't got one... Why do they make us do this? AND the ability kills is stupid that's going to take forever also

2 RepliesWell, the reason you didn't find any on Mars is because you chose the solar sword, which you need to farm helium filaments for. If you chose void, you need to farm relic iron, and if you chose arc then you need to farm spinmetal. Requires about 200, give or take a few. If you've got a ghost shell, or the hunter's special tracking perk then it's pretty easy. If you don't, prepare for a few hours of your life gone. The ability kills part is super easy, works very well for any subclass. (Unless you chose void on a Titan. I did this, and it sucks but the exotic sword is worth it.) That's really all though. Have fun!

Took me about 4 solid hours of farming to get the spin metal I needed from the cosmodrome. Got the arc ability kills while doing it. I was counting as I went and it basically worked out that I got 1 rare material every 10-15 nodes farmed. Feels like it's taking forever but it does get done eventually, so just stick with it. FYI the next stage is to talk to gunsmith on armsday, so try get it done before Wednesday or you'll be waiting a week.

Why? Because it shouldn't be easy. That's why. Because having a pulse shouldn't be the sole requirement to getting an exotic weapon.

Once u do those youll have to wait till arms day. So....dont be like me and finish the quest 3 mins past ._. Ugh so trolling. Took me several hrs to find spinmetal even with the ghost. Wasnt loading in some places

Bro, I collected over 400 helium filaments before I got the 10 rare items I needed. Keep farming it you'll get it done eventually

Forget how long and think about how much.. Takes about 10-20 tries to get 1 relic crystal.

Dude what sword are you going for? It's relic iron for void Spin metal for arc Helium filaments for solar You need too collect a lot it takes a while use a ghost for said element and a hunter you or friend can use the perk they have to collect faster.

OP complains about farming not a real Year One player. Lol. Just kidding. The quests in this game are too grindy should just be harder difficulty quests instead. Exotics should have a story not a grind. "YA BOY"

For the arc sword you need spinmetal (earth) For the solar sword you need helium (moon) For the void you need relic iron (Mars)

You have to search one planet for each element. Solar swords search the moon.

I wouldn't do it without Keen Scout Hunter or a ghost with ability to highlight. They drop at like 1/10-20 mats, and NOT from chests.

Make sure you are farming the ore itself and not the chests. I suggest having a ghost that assists you in finding the relic iron. I found that staying in the same area and continously farming the ore I got increased drops of crystal. Went from finding a crystal every 20 looted deposits to finding one every 5 to 10. I found 3 within looting 10 deposits. It took me around 135 depostis to find 10 crystals.
