Now some idiot is going to try and make the argument a 1.08 kd is OP..

Edited by Blizgar11: 9/29/2015 9:11:47 PMNo, but most statisticians would have no problem making that argument. Remember that the average kd for the entire community is by default less than 1.0, a 1.08 kd is therefore at least 8% above average, when u are dealing with numbers of kills and deaths in the tens or possibly hundreds of millions, 8 percent is a massive number and can clearly show that one class is strongly out performing everyone else. Only an idiot or an uneducated person would be unable to see that

THANK YOU!!! Finally, someone who understands basic -blam!-ing numbers!

Figure it's about time I use that engineering degree :)

Now correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm not saying this to argue but you sparked a genuine curiousity: I haven't taken and advanced statistic classes since college, wouldn't the average KD of all destiny players have to be 1.00 exactly?
-
It would if u do not take into account suicides and things like that one time u accidentally jump off a cliff etc, these are all included in the overall k/d so the k/d for the community is actually slightly below 1.0
-
Are there numbers to suggest that a 1.0 kd is the mean?
-
Probably, but u dont need them because this is one of those things that can be figured out by thinking it thru a bit, u can't have a greater than 1 k/d; every time u get a kill someone else gets a death after all, so the maximum k/d u could possibly have for the entire community is 1.0, then when u factor in ways u can kill yourself (jumping off cliff, rocket hitting someone too close to u, etc) to lower the k/d, the community k/d has to be slightly below 1.0
-
Haha you are right; wasn't thinking clearly.

True true didn't think about that
