Oryx, The Benevolent King?

So Oryx is one of the Hive's Gods, and a direct vessel of the Darkness. He's raising an army by enslaving other beings from all other races and bending them to his will, all for the purpose of avenging the death of his son, Crota (it was kind of his fault that Crota died anyway, since he ordered him to seize Luna). We, as Guardians and warriors of the Light, must bring down this evil king. But, what if he's not as evil as we think? What if he's not enslaving, but instead, he's setting these Taken free? Oryx has 3 main powers, which he uses on these Taken. First, he pulls them into his inner world -his personal dimension, if you may. Once there, he calms the frantic being, convincing them that his is a place of peace, and that there are no enemies here to kill them. Phase 2 is Oryx's true power: Truth. Oryx is able to see into the minds of others, to see everything they have ever seen, and everything they fear. He uses this to discover what they fear the most, then moves on to phase 3. In phase 3, Oryx uses his own power to grant these Taken an ability, which is made to counteract that specific Taken's greatest fear. "I have a knife for you. It is shaped like..." Take the Vandals, for example. They are barely higher in command than the Dregs. Their responsibility is to follow orders, make sure the Dregs pay their dues, and try to keep their other two arms. At a moment's notice, they could slip up and earn two swift cuts from a Captain's blade -demotion right back to Dreg. They have nothing to call their own. Nothing is safe, nowehere is safe for them. So, Oryx gives them a place where they can finally call their own -where they can finally feel safe. Because of his power, they are able to make a shield of their own, and inside of this shield, is their home and their own space. The Psions fear their own scarcity the most. The Cabal underestimate their power, usefulness, and genius, and use them as cannon fodder. There are so few Psions in the universe, yet the Cabal round them up and send them to the front lines. So, Oryx gives them a gift which allows them to multiply rapidly, so that the Psions needn't fear extinction anymore. They are never alone. Oryx isn't bending these beings to his will, they are willingly turning to him. He brings them to his sanctuary, offers them a gift to render their greatest fears obsolete, and in exchange, only asks for their service. Although he is the King of Taking, he is also the King of Giving. So, what is it that makes this Hive diety truly evil? Edit: my main point behind this post is to show how genius Oryx really is. Yeah, he's evil as all hell; but, he also performs benevolent actions for his "people" as a king should. While his ultimate goal is domination of all life, his other goal is to make his kingdom a utopia for those under his command. Thats why, even though you see Fallen and Hive ripping each other apart on the Moon, or Vex and Cabal massacring each other on Mars, not a single Taken falls to infighting. In feudal society, kings and kingdoms warred constantly for domination. However, the most successful of kings knew how to be fierce on the battlefield, but benevolent to their subjects. Who's to say that Oryx is any better or worse than the Traveller? While the Traveller is the cause of our uplifting to the Golden Age, is it not also the one who brought hell and oblivion to our front door? Both sides seem to have a point and a foil to their views -we're merely caught in the crossfire.

 • Well if you read the calcified fragments Oryx is ruthless through his symbiotic worm/wyrm. But he has slain trillions and wiped out dozens of species all to feed his worm so it didnt kill him/her. All we know of the traveler is that it advances societies so they can defend it and themselves from the minions of the Deep or darkness. The traveler may not be all good but oryx is bad.
