I'm a little older than your average gamer, mid 40's approx. Recently someone told me that I should give it up and do something a little more age appropriate. It was after a game of crucible and this little person seems to think that I'm a little bit over the hill to be playing Destiny. I give this person zero credibility cuz more than likely it was past their bedtime. What are your thoughts?
P.s. Despite everything, I really enjoy the game
It is very awesome to see the replys, thank you. Time to go and school the next generation.

1 ReplyEdited by Crooked Paradox: 9/30/2015 10:21:50 PMMan, video gaming is for everybody. If anything, the young kids don't have as much right to play as older players. We grew up with gaming and can appreciate the advances in consoles, graphics and controllers. I still remember playing pitfall, Metroid, Top Gun and so many others. If it weren't for our generation, gaming might not even exist. Keep playin, these kids have no idea what they're talking about.

2 RepliesFunny thing is, nobody would consider asking such questions about reading books, watching films, or any other popular entertainment that I can think of - only perhaps a particular TYPE of book, film, etc, aimed at a certain age group It's perhaps a measure of how immature videogames are considered culturally, that even players themselves can feel guilty enough to ask such a question

16 RepliesThere is no such thing as "too old to be gaming". Those same little kids fail to realize that their favorite games are being imagined created and distributed by these same "old people". I used to hear the same BS about being a girl gamer. The whole "video games are for boys" "you actually play video games? Like real video games? " the list goes on. I feel if it makes you happy and you're not hurting anyone DO IT! Now as for these 9yr olds on COD they need to get their arses off and go play outside! There is a such thing as being too young to play certain games (anything I'm playing!)

I'm 42, and don't know how to act my age. I've never been this old before.

You can game to the end of time, or until your eyes go all lazy and wonky.
-
2 RepliesI'm 28 but I see myself playing games 'till I'm wearing diapers again.

I'm 31 bro. Been gaming since I was like 8. I'll stop when I die. #playOn

I'm 52 so I had to vote "never too old". But I would have done anyway. I've been playing computer games since the 70's. It's one of my hobbies and I cannot think why I'd ever stop - especially not as the hardware and software just get better and better every year. Like many I'm just waiting for either the Occulus or Sony VR headset to finally materialise! The whole thing just gets better and better. (I still pay asteroids or invaders from time to time for nostalgia but the versions you can get for Xbox, PS3, PS4 never seem "quite right" - I guess you really need it all mounted in an upright box!)

1 ReplyI feel like being dead would be too old to stop gaming. I think that's when I'll finally put down my controller.

It's really nice to see how much positive response the thread has received.

Never stop doing something you love.

Until I get arthritis in my fingers I guess

I'm the same age as you. Have fun. It's nobody's place to tell you your too old. I have many friends in their forties who are doing well in Destiny. PvP is about practice. Even I can be number one in a crucible match if I get hot. Usually it's about luck and skill. Game on sir. Never surrender! We played at arcades with these things called quarters. That was some real PvP!

4 RepliesNo such thing. I'd take a senior citizen in my team over an annoying high school kid every time

Who cares what people say especially kids!!!

Edited by theghost_bgrt: 10/21/2015 4:58:45 PMThere's never an age too old for gaming. Unless your one of those type of older folk that hasn't mastered the jump ability. Played with a few older gentleman the other day during raid and they just couldn't jump for the life of them at any jump point and especially at sister part. I'm In my mid 20s

I'm getting too old for PvP, that's for sure. But for gaming in general you can never be old enough.
-
Sometimes kids act like they'll be the #1 super douce when they grow up. gaming is meant for all ages. Being mature enough for higher rated games is another story all together though.

Edited by kushdelite420: 10/21/2015 4:22:40 PMYou shouldn't care what kids say. I play with people in their 40s I'm in my Mid 20s but I will still be gaming until I'm too old to hold a controller. I already have carpultunnel from gaming and work so it's hard to say if I will last to 40 but I hope so hahah. Do what makes you happy if ur wife doesn't bitch about gaming ur good to go.

Enjoy life as you see fit. You are only around once you know.

1 ReplyLike Gooch_McGrundle says, No such thing as too old! I am mid 30's and most people I play with are in their late 30's to early 40's. I hate playing with teenagers, as they talk too much.
-
Screw that what are you supposed to go play golf?
-
Never too old. I remember back in my everquest days one of my best friends was a much older player. In fact he was a Vietnam vet living in a rest home. Now that's the life gaming all day!

If your over 45 then you started this whole gaming idea. Atari. We started it and will play until we finish it. I'm 45 with 6 kids age 12 to 20. And we all game.
