Edit: The weapon could quite possibly be a
reference to a different Lyudmila, a female sniper. I learned that many Häkke weapons have -D in their names, such as the auto rifle Arminius-D. Arminius, like Lyudmila, was a war hero. This explanation seems to fit better, despite the weapon not being a sniper rifle.
I was reading Wikipedia articles about strange, unexplained events (just interested me at the time) when I reached an article about the Dyatlov Pass incident. It's an event in which nine hikers perished in the Ural Mountains in Russia. The circumstances of their deaths is still disputed due to the odd nature of the occurrence. Their tent was cut open from the inside and all 9 hikers were found significant distances from the tent, and were either nude or close to it. It was -30 C, so that's obviously very weird, and why the case is famous.
While reading the hikers' names, I noticed one of their names is "Lyudmila Dubinina". That alone isn't really enough to make a connection to the pulse rifle, Lyudmila-D.
The rest of the connection comes with the weapon's description, which reads: "The cold sharpshooter's precision of the Häkke Lyudmila-D is a marvel to behold".
Why use the word cold? Now, Lyudmila has the weirdest case of all the hikers. She was found without her tongue and eyes, and several other parts of her face were missing. Clearly, she was a marvel to behold.
Tell me what you think. I think the connections are too close and numerous for this to just be a coincidence! Bungie can be pretty sneaky!
