Black Spindle shows we need LFG tools
I saw on Reddit this morning that you can get an exotic sniper while playing the daily heroic story. Pretty cool but from all accounts, as Paul notes in the link I've provided, you are probably best going into this with a team in order to clear the Taken in time.
This is starting to get a bit ridiculous honestly. Taken Champions are too tough to take on by yourself. Some of the later story missions tied to Quests are insanely difficult if not impossible (for the average player) to solo. I'm thinking Phobos Echo specifically as I needed a team to clear that. By myself, died twenty times, with team, it was a cakewalk. Over in less than 5 minutes. Summoner's Circle is in this same category.
So, look, personally I like to play solo. I have plenty of friends, they just don't play video games and I don't see why that should stop me from enjoying video games. I don't need Bungie or Activision to help me be "social", I can handle that. But fine, they want you to have a fireteam for pretty much everything end-game related. Then why on Earth is there no tools in game to facilitate this? I mean, if we're going to need fireteams for story mission and patrols (activities you could safely solo before TTK), then let's put some tools in the game to help this process along. What kind of "social" game lacks any kind of "social" tools?
I'm sorry but it's simply getting ridiculous and starting to seriously hamper my enjoyment of what is otherwise a fantastic expansion. Either let me play solo (except for Strikes and Raids) or make it easier for me to find a group to do these random things like Taken Champions and daily heroic story missions. LFG tools should have been in the game from day 1 but Bungie's new focus on harder activities just makes it completely inexcusable at this point.
EDIT: A possible, and simple, example would be having the ability to post to some kind of in-game bulletin board. "Cypherhalo wants to go fight Taken Champions on Mars" and then just let people join in on my fireteam. I'm sure there are a ton of options and methods which Bungie could use.
EDIT 2: Been thinking more about this whole issue, some thoughts below.

All of that is just far less convenient than having actual in-game tools. And frankly, I don't see why I need any more reason than that.
I buy a dishwasher so I don't have to hand wash dishes. We have washers and dryers so we don't have to hand wash clothes. We have icemakers in our fridges because we don't want to deal with ice cube trays. My car has power doors, windows, and trunk because it's more convenient than me having to open them myself. We, all of us, buy so many things that have convenience features which we, by definition, don't need but we want because they're easier.
So why exactly is it wrong to want my video game to have a convenience feature which would greatly improve it and help it be a far more "social" experience?"

(also, I had most kills in those 2 teams last night). I am at light level 293... So, from LFG, I joined 2 different groups. EAch time we had to wipe few times cause we ran out of time and that's ok because we need to practice it well and get our strategy correct. With one of the team, we killed the boss and had 50 seconds left to kill the adds. We failed again! As soon as the game got over I was kicked! Without a word! Do you know how childest and insulting it feels! The second group I joined - these sounded like kids! But, I was like what the hell, let's quickly finished this because I have my kids to attend to. After few attempts, we killed the boss with couple of min to spare. Just then they kicked me out of their fireteam. But I was still in their chat. I was trying to join them but before I did, someone else joined their team (I think - cause it would give me a message saying the firetime I am trying to join is full). And in few more seconds I was again kicked out of the party chat! Bungie! Tell me how this is fair! I was so angry but I am like this is just a game! But my point is, what do you do with these kind of behavior! Please implement a matchmaking man! I do have lot of friends outside of Playstation world! They just dont play playstation! I want to play Destiny! Why should I be restricted! I have 2 kids - 6 months old and a 4 year! I have a very demanding job and I manage around team of 80 developers! I want to be fair to my personal and my professional responsibilities but I want to enjoy Destiny as well. I pay for the game - what else I got to do? Even if I join clans, make "online" friends" I may not be able to hold onto them because everyone has a different commitment to life and to destiny. I made so many "Destiny-only-online" friends over last year but lost them over the time as well because they would send me invites after invites to join but I couldnt because I would be busy at work or taking care of my family. So, they eventually stopped! When I get time, they already have played it or they may have formed "regulars" who they now play with! I would think, Destiny, Bungie, Activision should have enough people on Payroll (and the marketing team) to identify and target these kind of customers (my kind) as well. Should they not cater to casual gamers as well?! What's the cost associated to that? Compare to how many more copies they can sell if they do implement OMM. I don't know what I am missing here!?

[b][i]BUMP. THIS. SHIT. RIGHT. HERE.[/i][/b] Seriously. Say this a little louder for the people in the back. I'm looking at you, "hardcore" kids. Destiny needs a comprehensive matchmaking system. Period. I'm currently stuck on Fear's Embrace (the Mars Echo); it's -blam!-ing impossible. I am [b][i]above[/i][/b] the suggested light level for the mission. I should be able to solo that shit no problem. But given the Boss' difficulty spike once you knock down a quarter of his health (utterly ridiculous number of ad spawns, [i][b]FIRE JETS[/b][/i], [b][u][i]POISONED FLOORS[/i][/u][/b]), Bungie may as well make the quest a strike. I've even tried doing the quest with my battle buddy. You'd think a second gun would make it just a [i]fraction[/i] easier. Nope. You need three people if you want to complete this quest. Unfortunately, I have my ONE squaddie. I [u]love[/u] most of the additions they put in for TTK, but this is just frustrating. No one should be barred from Endgame activities because they don't have an overabundance of friends with no lives.

Agree. What ever happened to the difficulty level selection choices Bungie? I enjoy my solo games and would like to play solo but not in a circular room, filled with adds that shoot nonstop and blast darkness waves at me while a boss shoots endless tracking missiles all when the floor fills with poison gas and the ceiling emits flame jets !!!..... Seriously that mission solo is insane. The taken solo are extremely difficult. Forget the world mini events if you are alone. If you do get all 3 elites good luck on the mega boss. If it's that captain on Venus that spams darkness blasts.....enjoy. Cause thy ain't fun. Please stop forcing end game to involve fireteams.

Why the Hell are people disputing that AT BARE MINIMUM a LFG panel is included IN-GAME? My Lord, that's one of the fundamental tools for any multiplayer or MMORPG game (which Destiny sorely wants to be). Bungie crapped the bed on their matchmaking and LFG functionality. Period. Now change the sheets, apologize and move on.

4 RepliesSeems to me Bungie just hates it when people want to play solo. Everything they do feels like it's only designed with teams in mind. You can't just have fun playing content on your own... The difficulty of activities even gets easier with more people in the fireteam. Enemies generally seem to have less health and do less damage. Playing solo I find the same enemies take a lot more damage and dish out a lot more, which I think is BS and makes playing solo not quite as enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, I like a challenge, but things like the nightfall don't seem worth the trouble especially where there's no buff and RNG is still as big of a pain as it used to be. Heroic strike playlist is also a hassle when people keep dropping out leaving you on your own making the strike take twice as long. People drop out super often, but I never have people drop in during a strike. Destiny should be a little more friendly to solo players AND implement an in game LFG system of some kind of endgame activities. I've never seen a "social" game be so inaccessible.

i dont really understand the problem here. i started TTK like 4 days late so i had to do alot of the quest lines solo. i passed all my friends in about 12 hours. shot up to 290+ light with no issue. I havent had a single issue doing any quest or mission solo. hasnt been a cake walk but i dont want it to be. I enjoy actually having to think and not just run through every mission mindlessly shooting with no challenge. As for an in game LFG system, that would be cool in theory but you dont understand what goes into that with a game like destiny. you have people all over the world in different locations, you have people who want to group up for quests and stuff but theyre all at different portions of the quest line. The black spindle exotic for instance. Alot of people dont even know how to get it or that it exists so you cant really expect to use a "LFG" system for this quest.since half the people wanting to do it are just doing it as the daily quest and not even trying to the spindle. I got the spindle last night and it was no joke. it took me and some friends 5+ attempts and i didnt even get it with them. I got on the forums and found 2 people to team with and got it first shot with 0:02 seconds left. Took me all of 1 minute opening the forum and messaging someone. And the difficulty level was hard as hell but i loved every second of it. I have a sense of accomplishment getting something for once. not like pre TTK where you just buy or RNG an exotic. An in game LFG system is a great thing but its also way more complicated than it sounds and might not be a good fit for destiny. Me personally, i think the simple bungie forums are just fine and always get me a group for whatever i want to do when i need it. Ive never spent more than like 10 minutes without finding a group

Totally agree with you, what kind of social game doesn't allow split screen so you can actually be social!!! Destiny is the most anti social game I have ever played!!! Also why is every person saying 'there is an LFG tool...' Totally illiterate!!! Seriously if you cannot spell simple words or construct a sentence why would anyone take a single word you say seriously!!! End of mini rant.

13 RepliesYou still need to pre rinse dishes before putting them in so they do get clean and so that bits of food don't clog the tubes. Some big stains need to be pre treated by hand before you can put your clothes in the wash, and some people don't use dryers very often. Ice cube fridges still need maitnience, you need to hook up the water and periodically change the filters. Not every car has power windows, or power locks at that. My car doesn't. Even then those bits of machinery can and will break down. I am a solo player. I can play everything on my own without help. Matchmaking fills in the gaps and I have to manually search for the raids and nightfalls. It's not as hard as you think to find people to play with if you need to. The game doesn't need to have that in order for us to play it.

I agree in-game LFG type tools would be great, or if you belong to a clan, ways to better connect with clan mates online while in-game. I recommend you look at the100.io website. I am not a big social gamer, but I found an excellent group, have a ton of fun gaming with them and joined their clan (AC76). Changed my view of soloing some of the game content.

I'm shocked someone else in these forums would feel this way, where if you don't say option matchmaking (something that should be done) your a witch. Personally, even though OMM would be welcomed, I'm a huge fan and advocate of LFG and would love to see a system come in game.

When patrol zones are ghost towns, some public events are impossible. Court of Oryx is also turning into a ghost town. The Lost to Light secret mission is also a good example of content that really can't be completed solo. (Or apparently with me in a fireteam). In game matchmaking is a simple fix.

Hey guys. ok so we got up to the boss "Driviks" and killed him (started the game at 8:36pm PST and killed him at 9:01pm PST) and did not get the drop, BUNGIE! we grinded 3 hours. alot of info came in that it was a 100% drop rate....what happens now?

There's a group section on here. It would have taken less effort to find and join a decent clan than I would have taken writing your short story. Give it a shot, its worth the effort.
