Is this even legal?

Are there any lawyers here? I'm surprised what Bungie did with TTK is even legal. You bought a game for 100,- and that is now gone... I think Bungie should only be able to add more stuff that you can't touch if you don't have TTK, but cannot take away content you already paid for. Say you buy a couch for 100,-. After a year the company you bought it from comes to your door and asks you 40 dollars extra for the couch and if you buy it you get a nice pillow. You say you don't want to pay. They saw your couch in half and take one half with them... That's how I feel about TTK so far. EDIT: Just to be clear, I KNOW what Bungie did is legal. I don't think they're stupid, just shitty. The title of the post was more to show that I'm surprised that it's legal. And I wish it was different... EDIT 2: Many people outside Europe didn’t get the couch analogy. Well, I didn’t know before writing that, but what Bungie did is legal in the US, but is not in Europe. As I am from Europe, the couch analogy made sense, since you can grasp it. You bought a game and after a year 50% is gone. You bought a couch and after a year 50% of your couch is gone. I thought people would get that, but apparently not. Anyway, let me give a new analogy. Since a game is intellectual property and a couch is not, a better comparison would be to compare it with a music record. A record is intellectual property of a band/artist. It makes a lot of sense that if you buy a record that record is yours forever (even though it is intellectual property of the artist!). It’s not going to happen that the artist/record label contacts you in a year and asks you for more money for a few bonus tracks. It is also not going to happen that if you refuse, they remove half of the songs of the record you already bought. It is also not going to happen that they change the music quality from FLAC or 320 kbps to 96 kbps. How come this is normal when it comes to Destiny? If you live in Europe you can get your money back. Not only for TTK, but also for Vanilla, Crota and HoW. It is funny b.t.w. that if you contact Activision for a refund, they direct you back at Bungie. Like some user on the forums said: “The head doesn’t know what the mouth is talking about.” XD

  • Remember...mmm....about a year ago whenever you had that update on your console, that made you agree to bungies terms before you even stepped foot in the tower? I know you remember even if it seems vague, everybody got that update, it installed for a few minutes and then prompted you to hit "I agree to the terms and policies". Not many people remember this because destiny had jus released, the hype was real, everybody jus wanted to shoot shit as fast as possible....how many people actually read the terms and conditions along with the policy of that update before they spammed the "agree to terms and conditions" button so they could hurry up and play? I didn't read it right away but eventually I did. You're questioning whether any of this is legal. Go read those terms and conditions along with their policy and you will have your answer soon enough. Even if it wasn't legal....you still agreed to the terms an conditions...which I think prohibits you from taking any legal action against bungie whatsoever....the only person that got over on bungie in the slightest was Marty O'Donnell and he wasn't a player or a fan, he was an employee that got jewed. However, if anyone were to take bungie to court for whatever they feel is illegal, first off, you won't win. Secondly you better hope you don't have any more than 100 hours in this game because that's exactly what their lawyers would tell you....well first they would have to actually see you as a threat...which none of us are, once that happens though they would throw your game play in your face and in the face of the judge. Trust me it would happen..."your honor, he didn't think anything we were doing was illegal until he sunk 1000 hours into the game and now he claims we are a dirty company" Bungie lives in a gray area between illegal and unethical....you'll either see them doing one or the other but never both. Plus...dude...it's been a year....over a year...any class anyction lawsuit or any other kind of lawsuit would be irrelevant at this point and if it hasn't happend yet it won't happen at all. If a fan was soo pissed off that he actually took the time and money jus to take bungie to court...hahahah they probably wouldn't even show up....and if they did they would probably pull some young dumbass paralegal or legal assistant to do it for them because that's what they think of lawsuits coming from people who aren't worthy of being in the same court room as them. So many people talk about taking legal action against bungie but would it really be worth it? Their game didn't give you cancer, it didn't cause you to lose a limb or your vision, yea it might have caused you to lose your sanity but the lines at Walmart do that to everyone, so let's say you've bought everything that bungie has offered since destiny released....I'm talkin, the game, the expansions, the ugly ass shirts they sell, donations to any one of the various boring twitch streamers that associate their identity with bungie, donations to nepal...so let's say you're a person that's bought roughly everything that bungie has offered....you're looking at about maybe 300 dollars spent over the course of a whole year....take bungie to court for any one of your probably stupid reasons and your going to being paying triple that, probably per court session. To the people w h o want to sue bungie....go ahead....I encourage you to do so...however...it won't be cheap....and seeing as how pricing is one of the biggest concerns in the destiny community...i don't see why anyone would go to court over a video game...a video game you had no part in making or developing mind you....unless you're one of those people that think that bungie actually listens to your feed back.
