Look I work a 50 hour job and sometimes all I wanna do is play a strike with friends or sometimes solo. But see the problem is, my back hurts so much from my job. I cannot afford to carry people who are bad or have no friends through said strikes. Please for the sake of my back make your matchmaking optional
Forcing matchmaking is a horrible idea, by doing so, you at bungie are actually making it harder for the less inexperienced to learn strategy and become legends. Not to mention the afk campers, it is legitimately the worst thing in destiny atm.
Furthermore why isnt the choice of matching for everything but the raid a thing?(yes I believe finding peeps for the raid is part of the challenge). There is no logical reason to not gice the option besides artistic stubbornness on bungies part.
Case in point, I get off work yesterday I pop in destiny for a couple of strikes. Litrally a guy doesnt move, so I start pushing him. After I have him going in the right direction he moved back to the same spot. Then he persists to send me a message, fk off im dancing. So I leave. This wouldnt be a problem if we coould toggle matchmaking.
Little by little it seems more are in agreement about this O.o. But seriously how long is it going to take you bungie to realize, forcing players slowly but surely drives them away.

Optional matchmaking for all but kings fall is a must. But I agree with oak. The lfg sites are too big of revenue generators now

2 RepliesThe lack of optional matchmaking so far out is ridiculous. Bungie gets ad revenue from the lfg sites they promote, so I don't see it changing.
-
2 RepliesI know, right?! You'd think that with a multiplayer heavy game, matchmaking would be a must to be implemented. How have they thrived without it?!
-
2 RepliesSeriously. It's beyond pathetic that this hasn't been implemented already. We can do Nightfalls solo. There is no good reason at all not to let people do other strikes solo.

7 RepliesYes, matchmaking should be optional for every activity.

3 RepliesEdited by Nanji_Gaming: 9/22/2015 8:51:21 PMThere's already functionality in the game to participate in content in cooperative mode without a full fireteam: You can start a raid instance with 1 - 6 players. You can start Missions with 1 - 3 players. I've also done Strikes with less than 3 players (MM didn't fill the team to start or fireteam members left early in the strike). I guess the challenge would be setting the toggle. One idea that comes to mind is queueing for a Strike with a Closed fireteam. If you're fireteam is set to closed, you don't get queue'd for MM. Optionally you could open the fireteam up mid-strike if you wanted to get entered into the MM queue at any point. MM'ing does function mid-strike. Just more thoughts on the subject.

1 ReplyThat would be nice sometimes especially if it would be for everything that you could select match making or no match making. Like for the one taken quest from petra, if you could select the patrol and turn on matchmaking so it would give you a fireteam of 3 to fight taken lieutenants and champions. Or for the raids especially if you could turn on match making. I know you are more interested in this option to do some things solo so you don't get a sub par fire team but it would also help those like myself, looking for a fireteam for the raid, or night fall, daily heroic or patrols.

2 RepliesI agree there should be an option in ur menu to turn off matchmaking

1 ReplyI support the suggestion for optional matchmaking, but for different reasons. Sometimes I'd like to explore a strike, look for ghosts or just enjoy the content without speed-running to the boss. Sometimes I'd also like to go through a strike with a friend who doesn't play as much and still needs to learn the content. In both cases it's difficult to do that when you're matched with a light level 280+ teammate who is focused on being as efficient with Strike grinds; they overpower the content, kill things before I can get an idea what's happening to either learn on my own or to explain to someone else. Having the option to join a strike as MM or not would be really nice.

3 RepliesMaybe it's depressing to say, but all my friends are off doing the raid and I'm stuck doing vanguard strikes. I only just recently started to be able to do heroic. I'm glad there is matchmaking, I wish it was on nore stuff. But I see what you're saying about soloing. But at the same time, cant you solo with people? Just ignore them? You don't have to pick them up or interact with them at all. It'll go faster, and if they suck oh well. ?
