Best scout rifle in TTK?
I love Scouts; it's my thing. But, I don't yet have a legendary or exotic Scout from TTK. I love my Saterine Rapier with firefly; it is awesome but at 170 damage, it's not very fierce. I've got some Scout coming from the gunsmith on arms day, but..... Anybody have any suggestions? And how you picked it up. And perks....
*Edit* Ok. After reading about all of your Scouts and all of your suggestions I'm going to do the following:
Level up the gunsmith to 3.
Do strikes on Mars till I'm sick.
Pledge allegiance to Dead Orbit
*Edit* Wow. Didn't realize there were so many Scout lovers out there. I just assumed hand cannons ruled for most everyone (but me and a small handful of Halo DMR lovers). Thanks for all the info.
*Final Edit* OK. My gunsmith is almost to rank 3 (for Tlaloc). I've pledged allegiance to Dead Orbit and will get my marks tomorrow (for Hung Jury) and I will keep grinding Mars Strikes (for Treads upon stars). Thank you all so much for your recommendations as well as your thoughts; I'm squared away.
That being said, after 1500 plus comments, it's time to let this thread die, let my iPhone rest and get some sleep at night. Seriously, my wife is super pissed that my phone has been making the "ghost" sound 50 times a night. Don't you people need sleep?
OK. Final edit on 8/25/16: Can't believe this came up again. I have been using the Hung Jury (Dead Orbit Scout) for months. It is amazing and at 335 kicks ass. There is nothing better in the game than a single shot to the head, triggering the firefly animation. NOTHING BETTER; prove me wrong.

After spending some time looking over what is available, legendary wise is the New Iron Banner scout Rifle Colovance's Duty. It has the longest base range and has a good section of stuff it might come with that might max out said range. Its rate of fire and stability is worse than the Rapier's but that was pretty much always the case. Second best would be the SUROS DIS-43 I have had some time with a good rolled one ( lucky me) and while its base range is not as good as Colovance's it is close to it and has some good perks that can make it pretty good and its magazine size can be nothing to sneer at ( mine came out to like 23 with a one of the perks.) Over all these two beat out even the exotics barring Fate of All Fools and The Jade Rabbit for range at least which is what I tend to go by.

The dead orbit scout rifle you can buy from the vendor has a really nice roll on it triple tap and firefly great for pve and does good in pvp as well although for pvp I prefer the suros scout rifle although dead orbits isn't bad. But mida will always be my baby in pvp.

The Jade Rabbit is such a sweet gun. Would you like to fire endlessly at a crowd or boss or anything? Yes, please. Also the aim assist is insane. Like I'll try to get body shots and end up with a precision shot. If you do not have a PS4 then I know the crucible quartermaster is selling a low RoF, high impact Omolon. I got one from a package last week and love it. It's got basically the same specs as Jade Rabbit, sans amazingly awesome infinite firing exotic perk. It has sweet sights too - I use the one that highlights your enemies. Never would've thought I would really like that, but it's pretty awesome. Also, the Boolean Gemini is a great mobile, fast firing scout. It's better for short to mid range, whereas the Jade Rabbit is better for mid to long range. The perk on it is whatever, but it's fun and pretty decent.

3 RepliesJade Rabbit was my second exotic weapon in Taken King and I absolutely love it. I already have over 1500 kills with it. It's really useful for high damage outputs. Kinda off topic here but, ironically, my first exotic in TTK was Truth and my first exotic from Vanilla Destiny was Truth as well.

After Auto rifles were nerfed I became a proficient user of Scout rifles. MIDA for days! Then I rediscovered Pulse Rifles, a weapon I handy used since the beta.
