Jolly Holiday quest is crap
The jolly holiday quest is extremely hard, even though the reward for it is an exotic (the chaperone) I found it extremely challenging considering that the last word has been nerfed. Also the quest description said nothing about deaths in the crucible taking away progess... so not only do you have to get 100 kills in the crucible with a nerfed last word but you also have to do so while every death takes away a kill from your progress (1 kill = 1%) the quest progress also glitches quite a bit and often takes away more than 1% of progress per death and sometimes doesn't give you progress for kills... in conclusion this quest is absolutely the dumbest and most unbelievably impossible thing to do in destiny!!!

I just finished this (April 15 2017). No Cheese lol It was very hard but after using other hand cannons for awhile for weekly bounty I decided to give it a go. Very satisfying consider current state of tlw and special ammo, kind of proud of myself!! Some advice (or at least what I did) 1)Pick you match carefully, I played supremacy (forces opponent into close combat) and it helped that IB was on so mostly singles. 2)Play conservative - actively try not to die. My kills went down but my KD and streaks went up 3)If you are playing the same people check to see if you are on the good team if not use something else. 4)Don't be stubborn- I stuck with tlw even though things were not going well and was punished. If thing are not going well put tlw away until next math. 5)Don't play the game objective! Your objective is to complete the quest. 6)Some maps are better for tlw then others learn which ones but always stick to the close combat areas 7)Get the heavy! Use machine gun and be conservative. It spawns at 7:00 on most games and 5:00 left on supremacy so be ready for it. 8)Use TLW-With the lack of special ammo I found I could not get ahead trying get those kills and died to much. Be calm, aim your shots and TLW can be effective. Most important actively try not to die. Run away if in bad situation Lastly, I don't know if this is good advice but what I did, I used the lose your supper gain melee grenade artifact. I was running void warlock and found the extra armour (hidden perk) and extra abilities helped keep me alive and soften up opponents for TLW. Not having a supper help me concentrate on my gun play and most important not getting into bad situation Hope this helps those trying to do this quest in the Age of Triumph era. It is hard but sooo satisfying to complete.

I'm trying to get this quest done right now while dealing with the bullshit meta. And I'm not very good at crucible either. What is the point of keeping the weapon out of our hands like this?

3 RepliesI am a great crucible player, but hand cannons are not my choice weapon. They are rubbish to me. Plenty of occasions I have wasted cannon users with ease. I average 20 to 40 kills in a crucible game, but I still do have terrible matches as well. No player in destiny can have a top crucible game every game, you do have that bad game where you get your ass handed to you. Trials o hate as well, I don't have a team to join, I don't care about kill /death ratio either, I just enjoy the game with friends. But this TLW quest is crap and stupid. The Chaperone is also a stupid weapon too, for such a hard quest. Especially now since the TLW has been nerfed terribly. Last year the gun was enjoyable and better. Now it's just tedious. In my opinion Hand cannons are useless in the wrong hands, like me. But give me a pulse, scout or auto... Hand cannon users beware. Oh and my trusty shotgun. Snipers suck too... Lol... Cause I suck with them too.

2 RepliesI gave up on this quest about a year ago and finally picked it back up today. Got it done in around 2 and a half hours in rift. You need to play incredibly safely and not just rush in with TLW, and think you'll get kills. Stay with the rest of your team and try to hold the spark area. Clean up enemies that have already been weakened. Do not pick up the spark, as that will make you the prime target. If the other team gets the spark, fall back, as that's where most of your team will be. When you get your super, the best times to pop it are just before the spark is charged, and at the enemies rift when you have an active runner. Try to stay positive and keep your cool, it will help. Wins do count for around 4%, in my experience. Hope this helps. Good luck!

This quest is a pain in the ass because of lag switchers and players who are lagging in general. Like, why make us lose reputation knowing there are players out there like that? It makes it so annoying l.

I'm not gonna be one of the people trying to act cool and say it's easy lol, but it isnt impossible. I did it in salvage because with only 3 enemies instead of 6 there are less bullets and supers flying everywhere. Also i consider it better than skirmish because there is an objective (a distraction). I just sat back and used the probe as bait for kills. U get 2% for precision kills so Aim for the head as much as possible. I also believe I was getting extra points if I racked up a kill streak. Super kills count as well.

It's a tough quest for sure. I'm up to 29% right now. Unfortunately, I'm just not that good with hand cannons.

3 RepliesI think I got a solution if you have a friend that doesn't care for crucible or K/D(I have several) use the private matches go with with said friend and they just let you kill them a bunch

Ok this is a coincidence cuz I feel the same! The first quest with Last word equipped is the toughest quest I have done till date. Coincidentally, I also completed it for the first time today! So here are my 2 cents : 1) If you are trying to get it first time, I suggest using a Warlock with Storm caller subclass. 2) Play only Classic 6 vs 6 as you are more likely to get weaker opponents hence more kills there. 3) Start the game with any of your fav primary weapon and build up your super (mine is Bad Juju as each kill add to your super and you can use your super atleast 3 times in one game). When your super is charged, quickly equip Last word and use your super on the enemy area and get some 3-4 kills. 4) You could also equip last word when you have picked up heavy ammo and are sure to get some kills. 5)Once you have used your super/heavy ammo, switch back to your fav primary and go again. I was able to finish the quest this way in about 4 hours getting approx 5-10% kills every game. Hope this helps..cheers!

I'm pretty sure they changed it in 2.4. I had it equipped the whole time during a mayhem clash round and even with a positive k/d i ended with less percentage than i started. Im pretty sure its now 1 to 1% and ability kills don't give you anything. With the nerf to TLW that makes this extremely hard. All you posting its easy, try it now.

Yep... Just dont do it, another God awful quest done by a decently God awful game for a God awful gun... As soon as I get to 88 it just stops.. I have waited for my super at 88 and killed all 6 people and still was at 88

That's right, it's just ludicrous, I started it yesterday, I'm not the brightest crucible player around but I did well with the nerfed Last Word and all I got is 1% and it's not moving beyond that...

Yes this quest sucks more than anything that has ever sucked. I've been trying this for at least a month in Rumble and was ready to throw the game in the woods. But today I tried Classic 6v6, and I completed it in 4 matches. So I would try Classic 6v6, because anybody can do it I I did it lol.

To be honest the most annoying shit is when you get that assist when you were about to get the killing blow.

2 RepliesI'm pretty sure it is all streak based. I know for a fact that if you go on at least 5 kill streaks you get big points. Reason points don't go up even with a good kd is you can't go 1 and 1 get a kill be killed because deaths take away more % wise than single kills do. Tips I can give now that the last word blows and since I did it relatively easy with my titan are these. 1. If you have last word equipped (and all the time really regardless of weapon but I know alot of ppl don't play this way) always stay with team members and if last word is equipped try to stay behind them and clean up. 2. Range is terrible now so don't use it alot on all maps. Use it on maps that are more enclosef and try to stick to hallways or other enclosed areas. 3. On non enclosed maps use a different primary but whenever your super is charged, you get heavy ammo or take control of a good sniping point equip the last word. When heavy, special and super are gone take it off, this will lead to always getting positive points. 4. Alot of people will say be aggressive and always go full auto. Thats cool if youre super close but my opinion is the gun is more effective being precise taking your time to make sure you get precision shots, and if you're on a kill streak definitely try to be cautious and get to a spot that gives you the advantage in a fight. 5. Try to hold super for multiple kills. If you can get 4 or 5 down bonus with last word equipped then it's big points. I got a 5 down on cats hiding in a weapons bubble using my titan fist of havoc. It ened up being like an 8 kill streak and it upped % over 20% which was much more than it would of went up with just an 8 kill streak without the 4 or 5 down bonus. That's my opinions/advice on the quest along with not liking the quest even though I didn't have to spend tons of time on it. Hope it helps some of ya and good luck.

I've used my super and increased my percentage by 10%, but then I'll have a round where I have good K/D ratio, but my quest progress has dropped 10%. I am beyond confused and frustrated with this quest. Yeah, I've been at this for hours and I'm at 4%. Just had a game with a 1.8 KD (18 kills). May not be great for some of you, but it's good for me. Simple math leads me to believe TLW kills are worth 1%, and others worth .5%. I know many are saying just to get better, and I respect that. However, I get to play once a week or so, so "getting good" isn't an option. Really wanted to do the Moments of Triumph, but this isn't worth the effort for me. I play Destiny to have fun and to be REASONABLY challenged... this quest is neither.
