So is the gate lord dropping the engram and do I open it when I go back into the mission? Also if I already have the cp will it work?

An exotic engram with drop like a normal engram.

The gate lord drops the engram. Pick it up and leave. Then pop another coin and try again. You'll re spawn back at the gate lord. Super easy.
