It will probably show up as "classified content" or "requires the Taken King"... My Pre-order stuff showed up on my Xbone a few days before I could install TTK in my 360... my Shader and Emblem just weren't there... it auto-equipped a common Emblem and a default no-shader.
I've had similar issues with crap like the GameStop Sparrow and the Limited Edition Items (Frontier Shell and the Ship).

That's what's happening to me right now! My taken king stuff works great, but my expansion 1&2 stuff say, "requires purchase" and the missons are locked out. weird, huh?

If you're on the 360 or the One... Try downloading the previous DLC again. No problems on the One, but I had to reinstall compatibility patches 5 and up (again) to play on my 360.
