Shindig in the crucible = impossible
OK now I'm good in the crucible, can hold my own, done thorn 3 times on hunter with no primary and been flawless etc.
But this is -blam!-ing impossible! Must have gotten 50 + kills already with TLW equipped and I'm on 3%? This is a severely stupid bounty and death shouldn't slow your progress! Either that or its bugged and my kills arnt registering!
EDIT: I have now done this quest so stop with the "get good" replies

Yeah this quest is so -blam!-ing stupid... i did great. 14 kills, 2.25 k/d... it put me down ~20%. What the actual -blam!-

I finally got this quest step done and can confirm that this quest is a peice of S#@!. I had to get some of the boys together and get them to let me multi-kill them over and over in a private match. And it took a good 45min to do. Luckily private matches don't effect your K/D ratio or they would never have let me do it. I am very surprised this quest has never been fixed to suit the nerfed version of this terribly crap gun. After finishing this quest I quickly dismantled TLW for the 2 exotic shards it was holding ransom and hope to never see another one in all the rest of my days playing this game. Thank F#€£ that is over. Hand cannons suck

I just figured out how this quest works. Kills grant percentage and deaths remove some. Kills give slightly more but I can't tell the ratio. Once I figured it out my percentage has been growing, but going in by yourself is still more difficult. I suggest a fireteam for coordinating.

1 ReplyThis quest is entirely luck and not player ability. Stop acting like you're a good player because you completed a terribly designed quest. I've had rumble matches that I've won with a very positive K/D (2.0+) and it still sits at zero. I've had terrible matches where I'm dying constantly, but one lucky super will pop it up 40%. The ridiculous scoring on this quest does not reward honest progress, it only rewards/punishes based on streaky behavior. Die two times in a row? There goes 4 kills! In honest play, you'd have to have a 3-4.0 K/D ratio to actually complete this during the course of normal play, that is a ridiculous request to make of the average player. And for many players like me, months of WINNING matches with TLW and still having it rebound to zero makes this quest something to abandon. Not everyone is lucky enough to find a group of 3 people to blind-side super reliably enough to complete this quest. It should be very simple scoring: 1 kill = 2 points, 1 death = 1 point. No streak scoring in either direction. It also has nothing to do with The Last Word when the primary method of completing this quest for almost all players is using supers, secondaries, etc. and everything BUT The Last Word to complete it. Terrible design.

I did mine the cheap way when SRL was up and just ran race after race after race until it 100%. I wasn't as much of a PvP person back in the beginning. (still not that great but I can hold my own with a decent team.)

this quest is for the chaperone right? damn, I still haven't completed the shield Bros part yet. totally forgot about it. once I bought the yr. 2 invective it must have slipped my mind.

If you did Thorn on a Hunter then this shouldn't be an issue... My brother who is not in any way a Crucible machine finished this without my help.

It increases with kill streaks. Stop being a warrior and trying to trade kills and you'll get it done. Took me two days to get it done because I work.

Next time Mayhem Clash rolls around head there. You'll get it pretty fast using your super so often. I'm not great at crucible but I got this done with relative ease. If you're still having a hard time, do this: Only equip TLW right before your super hits. Kill multiple people with your super. Un-equip TLW. Rinse and repeat. Deaths don't count against you if you don't have TLW equipped.

The best piece of advice I can give you is to play very, very cautiously,don't go for kills, just make it your primary objective to not die, if you don't get the first shot in, run. Also, find an enclosed part of the map you can just camp in, don't go outside and open yourself up, you're not killing anybody at range with TLW. Using these tactics I managed to go on a 10+ kill streak and made up more than 50% in one match. Good luck Guardian :D
