Found a Post that perfectly describes what I meant.
I purchased destiny. I can no longer play 70 percent of the game today. I did not pay 40 additional dollars for the game I already paid 60 dollars for. Plus whatever the previous expansions cost. So I understand that I shouldn't get the new stuff. Cool, made my peace with that. I still have a 60 dollar game I should be able to play. I should still have the same amount of content I purchased originally, but bungie punished me for not purchasing new content. They actually make the game difficult to play. Now people will say why should bungie cater to me. I have no clue how you think I need some catering. This is the very first video game that I know of that has a time limit on its playability. I can play all my other out dated games... They seem to function just fine. Years and years after their release. Bungie is starting a new business practice and it's bad business. Real bad business.
Edit; because yall don't get it. this^

97 RepliesThis is the best explanation I've seen for all the complaining.
You have not had any missions, strikes, raids, or weapons taken away from you that you have purchased. You can still play all the TDB missions/strikes, HoW missions/strikes and you can certainly still play the vanilla missions/strikes. The same goes for the crucible. You still have every right to play the maps that you have already paid for in the classic playlists in the crucible. The only thing you have been locked out of is new endgame content like Nightfalls, Weeklies, Raid etc etc. That is not content that you bought that is a FEATURE of the game. A feature that centers around the latest content. When you bought TDB you bought the strikes, missions, gear etc etc and the Nightfall then took that content and featured it every week. Now that TTK is the latest content the Nightfall now features THAT content. So no you don't get to do the Nightfall because the Nightfall features new content. Content that you have not paid for. So please stop acting as if Bungie came into your game and pulled all of the missions and gear from your bleeding fingers and pissed on your Ghost. This is how expansion based games have operated for YEARS now. The new expansion comes out with new gear, new missions, and a new level cap. That new content is then featured front and center in every way and the old content is pushed off to the side. WoW, Diablo, SWTOR etc etc have followed this design for years. This is not new and this not shocking. They did it for TDB and they did it for HoW, but they did it on a smaller scale because they were smaller packages. TTK is essentially Destiny 1 part 2. So of course its impact on the day to day functionality of the game is gonna be MUCH more noticeable and much more profound. You paid for content. You got that content. You still have that content. You can still play that content. Features such as the endgame activities however will always be geared toward the latest content and if you don't have that content then you obviouslly cannot participate in the features that use that new content. The same goes for the levelcap as well. You paid for the level-cap to be increased in each of the new DLC's that came out because they were TIED to that content and you need that gear in order to REACH that new cap. They have now raised it again and have tied that cap to the new gear. Gear you don't have access to because you have not paid for it yet. So of COURSE the Vendors are going to be selling the latest and greatest gear. Do you honestly think that they should still be selling old level Vanilla gear like Shadow Price or The Devil You Know even though its been outclassed ages ago? I understand that you are upset that your options are limited now because the content you bought is no longer featured, but don't sit their and claim that it is no longer there or that you no longer have access to it. Because it is and you do.
Pay to win? I guess so. Every game is pay to win by your definition. Cant win if you dont buy the game...

Edited by DeusDominus: 9/16/2015 10:35:22 PMWhile there is some whining and complaining in this post at the same time there is a good point trying to be made that's being over looked. There are features and events in the game that have been completely removed that were a part of the core experience. Those that did not purchase the new content can no longer experience the old content or the new content. While not being able to experience the new content is perfectly understandable and expected bot being able to continue to take part in the old core content may put off some players you have not yet or will not move on to the new content. I wouldn't call it pay to win but I can see how it would upsetting to players in the OP's position. Edit: It's not bad business either cause they are getting RICH BIO*** Also most of what's missing you'll get over it'll be alright.

1 ReplyOnly thing you can't do is nightfall and heroics. Which is fine, this model is better than a subscription model.
-
It's not anywhere near 70% it's like 20% and that 20% is endgame content.
-
I want to know how you reached the conclusion you can't play 70% of the game. Way I see it you've lost access to a few strike playlists (we all have by the way), trials and some crucible playlists. You still have access to 100% of the strikes, crucible maps, raids and other core activities you had in year 1, and you don't even need gear to reach max level anymore. At most you've lost access to 10% of the game, and that 10% is all multiplayer endgame content that has now changed to reflect the new endgame available with TTK. The only way you could still access it as its been is if they hosted another version of the game purely for year 1 players and supported it, but why would they continue to support you if you won't continue to support them?

Not pay to win Pay to win is if you could buy gelly for 10 bucks Or sleeper stimulant for 8 bucks What you're looking for is a different name Maybe content locked? Or maybe MMO games being MMO games? (Or destinies "shared world shooter")

3 RepliesYou are only locked out of the new stuff and the Night fall stuff why would u be able to even attempt to do a light level 290 night fall When you did not buy the taken king this stuff is with taken king You have the dark below U have the house of wolves U have the vanilla destiny U have the pvp that is classic year 1 U ha e strikes that are from year 1 U don't get the ttk stuff level and gear cause you didn't get the taken king

People say free to play games are pay to win since they have cash shops with things to help make your character stronger but I've never had to spend a penny on them and can still reach max level with the best gear. It's up to you how much time or money you want to but into any game but yeah, keeping up with Destiny has been the most costly for me.

Pay to win? You're an idiot, it's pay to play. When they introduce micro transactions (which likely will be the day I quit) for better guns, armor, subclass perks without additional content then it will be a pay to win.

7 RepliesTitle on this post is ignorant pay to win refers to the ability to buy the best, with money, gear to get ahead of the pack. That's not what happened here. If you want to get technical if you got destiny and both expansion packs from year 1 you spent 100 dollars. Comes out to about 9 bucks a month. Now a major update hits so a new buy in is required to play. You never bought anything look at the info in the end user agreements in all online games. You OWN NONE OF IT. To play nightfalls and all of the game you need to re-up. Your 25 cents in the machine was never a promise of endless play it does end. Grow up, deal with it and move on.

It's always been pay to win

Idiot. Not worth typing more

You know that ToS page you didn't bother to read? You know, the one you have to agree to before you play? Well it states in the ToS that Bungie pretty much has the right to change, restrict, suspend etc... Any and all the content if need be. You agreed to it bro... They just doing exactly what they stated in the ToS.

It's not pay to win? Jesus Christ. That's the dumbest title ever

That's pay to play. Not pay to win. Jus sayin. Paying to win would be like me spending $3 before every match so I can spawn with 2 rockets in my launcher every time.
