Queen Mara Sov - Eris Morn theory

Final part of the first cut scene when Mara Sov's voice says, "It is all up to you my secret friend,.." or something like that. Final cut scene at the end of the Regicide story mission, Eris Morn takes a shard from the sword and says, "My Queen, I will not fail you." Is Eris Morn the Queen's secret friend? Will Eris bring the queen back, as she pulled us out of the hellmouth with her elven spell? What are your thoughts?

  • hello, one of the first time in a long time since ive been on this web, posting anything, but i had a look at the cutscene where eris morn popped up(not saying when or where, so no spoilers) but that thing she had gotten........ im having a feeling it is a shard for something big..... like the traveler, since the hive seem to have alot of its parts and whatnot, but my thought on that is maybe Eris morn has an agenda, and maybe the glowing eye and black tears was not really from the hive, but from the remainders of the traveler maybe to control her so that the traveler can be revived..... and the traveler may be the real enemy imo. That was the main storyline at one point, the traveler being the harbinger of darkness. the traveler has been around for a while, the story could be twisted and morphed into something else, just like religions and beliefs can be twisted into something good or evil as the believers grow and thrive.

  • It has already been Confirmed that she was Speaking to Eris, but something doesn't quite add up with the Queen's death, and her plan with eris, first off Mara is narrating the intro of the phobos mission, after the scene with her ship being destroyed her narration states "it is all up to eris" Suggesting that maybe the reef's attack and it's outcome was according to plan, there have also been supposed accounts of Prince uldren's fighter having transmitted from distant areas of the solar system, as well as raid drop taglines reference chatter between awoken soldiers during the battle, also information regarding the exotic fusion rifles Telesto states that vestiges of the Queen's harbingers still remain among Saturn's rings. Even going as far to outside sources for potential hints as to whether the queen may have faked her death, A Score Contained within the Taken King official soundtrack is called Mara Sov's theme in which I have no recollection of hearing in TTK or any Year one event's stating that there may be a secret reunion with her still coded into the game which has yet to be revealed In addition to Eris mentioning she will not fail upon obtaining Will breaker's Core Imo I believe the queen may have faked her death for reasons unknown (Perhaps she knows of a danger far greater than Oryx approaching the system and is purposely weakening the reef and strengthening earth so that it will seem more appealing a threat than the reef upon it's arrival] Not only that but it seems like the queen would have more significance to the plot than to just die off at the beginning of year two...

  • I think it's quite clear that the Queen is addressing Eris at the start of this clip. As we all know, "the pit" that Eris escaped from is the Hellmouth. The next interesting fact, is that the Queen refers to Eris as her "Hidden" friend. (Note the capital "H" on Hidden in the subtitles on the clip). The Hidden are a group of spies set up and led by the warlock vanguard mentor, Ikora Rey. A group that Eris is a known member of. This to me suggests that the Queen is also working with The Hidden. In the second part of my video clip, Eris quite clearly addresses the Queen as soon as she speaks. This is her responding to The Queen and helps to back up my theory that the Queen is talking to Eris in the first part of the clip. At the very end of the clip, Eris states that she "will not fail". Fail what? A task given to her by the Queen as part of her plan, no doubt. The final pieces which help to cement this theory in place are the grimoire cards "Ghost Fragment: The Reef" and "Ghost Fragment: The Queen 2". In Ghost Fragment: The Reef, there appears to be a meeting taking place between Prince Uldren and Eris Morn. He steps through, and the hatch shudders closed behind him. A series of dim illumination panels flicker on. He is not alone. Three dull green lights blaze to life behind a veil. She tilts her head to consider the Prince, face like a marble carving. During this meeting, Prince Uldren specifically states that the Queen has a plan and comments on the fact that if the Guardians were to find out about Eris being there it would be detrimental to those plans: "If the Guardians knew you and she were in contact, it would be detrimental to her plans." And finally, Ghost Fragment: The Queen 2 is essentially a conversation that takes place between The Queen, Prince Uldren and Eris Morn in which they discuss the need to end Oryx. What is this plan that the Queen has conjured up? Is Eris the only other person involved, or are Ikora Rey and the rest of The Hidden included as well? Is the Queen actually dead? Will we find out the answers to these questions? And if so, when?

    • I don't trust eris. Everything she say is too vague. She is also hive like and has the power to teleport, alike to a hive wizard. She also has a strange rock which speaks to her in a language understood by no one other than her. Nobody in the tower trusts her but the full power of the vanguard and xur could take her

      • You're going to hear a lot of people claiming that Eris is talking to Oryx's sister, Savathun. They are wrong. That is wild speculation that belongs in bad fanfic. It is made very clear in the grimoire that Eris is indeed working with Mara Sov and has been since pretty much the moment she escaped the Hellmouth.

        • I dont think its mara sov that eris references. I think it is either Taox or one of Oryx's sisters. Why do i say that? It is because eris got out of crota's realm alone after being trapped there. She had received help from inside and gained the ability to not only sense hive but understand them on a deeper level. In the calcified fragments. Oryx and his/her (yes oryx use to be a chick) sisters kill each other over and over to emulate death. Once Oryx communes with the "deep" aka the darkness, he comes back with tablets of information and learns how to take enemies. The sisters are instantly jealous of this and seek the tablets for themselves and to truly kill Oryx. Oryx keeps the tablets in his possession at all times and Eris retrieves an artifact from Oryx's sword. That could very well be the "tablets" that Oryx received and we know the sisters sought it. This is the case for the sisters. Also Oryx and his sisters are relentlessly hunting Taox, Oryx's old mentor. Somehow Taox is able to live longer than a decade without succumbing to the darkness. (The original hive race lived for about a decade however it is speculated that they lived longer because a decade to them could be a different measurement of time on the Fundament.) Taox continually escapes Oryx's onslaught as he travels across the galaxy killing trillions to satisfy his Wrym/akahmara. Taox and the original hive were humanoid with 3 eyes. Eris has been transformed into something both human and hive and has not given in to the darkness. The hive under Oryx and his sisters are what they are through the ingesting of worms or the akahmara's children. The precursor hive did not have these worms initially and many rejected them when Oryx was taking over Fundament. So Eris is more like Taox or the original hive. If she had a worm in her it would consume her and drive her toward the darkness. While these are just theories i believe there is quite a bit of evidence to support either one. The only thing i cannot account for is Mara Sov's reference to her "hidden friend." I have seen evidence saying the guardian or you, the stranger and Eris. But there isnt much in the grimoire to give a clear picture. The grimoire The Aftermath talks about Crow searching for Mara after the battle because he thinks she is still alive. Other than that no references to the hidden friend. But again its just a theory, a Destiny theory!
I hope people get the reference at the end :D
• One, The Queen is actually Taox. Two, Oryx The Taken King is actually Auryx, or Aurash heir to the Osmium Throne. Taox sought/attempted to imprison the three princes/sisters. The princes/sisters sought to consume the Traveler, and Oryx sought to kill Taox. Osiris and Eris are all part of the plot to kill Oryx. We, the guardians, are basically just manipulated into being the chosen tool of Oryx's destruction. Of course Osiris is speculation. But Eris is the hunter mentioned in the grimoire card, "Ghost Fragment: The Queen 2".

                    • The Queen says "my Hidden friend". The Hidden are Ikora Rey's secret spies and ruin-delvers. Eris Morn was/is one of them. All of her Class Items are like "Mark/Cloak/Bond of the Hidden", for example. Eris is almost certainly talking about Mara Sov. She is an Awoken (ex-)Guardian who met secretly with the Queen of the Reef in the Grimoire to talk about defeating the Hive. The Queen practically spells out for us that the Awoken space battle with the Dreadnaught was part of the plan she made with Eris. As for "elven" magic, 1) we were still alive when Eris teleported us, so I doubt anything she does in the future will bring the Queen back and 2) we were in the Ascendant Realm of the Hive which follows the sword-logic and strong wills, not the laws of "Destiny world physics". It is possible the trick doesn't work in the "real" Destiny world.

                      • I think she's up to something. The Queen used us to kill the black heart and then we've destroyed the fallen's only chance at unification. Next, we've wiped out the Hive (minus the mysterious other Hive God Nocriss? or however you spell it who has a rune stone at the entrance of Oryx's lair in Regicide). They could both be trying to use us as pawns for a greater plan that dooms us.

It would make sense as Eris has told you to Kim Crota, a successor to the throne if oryx was to die and Alak-Hul a worthy successor as she clamed herself and of course she made us kill oryx but just what I think....BTW I'm very bad at guessing XD

                        • After watching the opening cutscene several times there is no doubt that the Queen talks about Eris, her Hidden friend. The Hidden is Eris's fraction. So it seems that the Queen and Eris have some sort of secret alliance and knew that Oryx will come eventually. She also talks about some pit they both emerged from, perhaps a place where first Awoken were born. Eris's race is not known, but behind that greenish Hive hue I think she's an Awoken as well.
