*Plasma Rifle vs Plasma Repeater* - Redundance and how we got trolled.
Facts
-They're the same weapon with literally the same (or difference by .00000001 sec) kill times.
-The Plasma Rifle shoots straighter over medium range while the Repeater's crosshair expands.
-Bungie could have kept the iconic Plasma Rifle as the main Covie weapon and just added some changes to it to make it either more powerful (which the Repeater is NOT, especially since the Beta) and/or function differently (venting).
-----They REMOVED the AR from Halo 2 and brought it back in Halo 3. They changed the look of the iconic AR in Reach, so do NOT tell me they couldn't have slightly adjusted the Plasma Rifle to destroy like the Halo 1 version.
-The Plasma Rifle is more iconic than the Repeater ever will be.
-Bungie has stated that they made the Repeater for multiplayer only because it would break the campaign, yet it's all over the campaign.
-They removed the SMG because of redundance issues (ODST version?), yet they created the Repeater?
-Heck, they even NERFED the Repeater from the Beta... The Beta version was truly on par/better than the AR, even in midrange it was good (legit midrange, not 2 feet midrange...).
-----The buffed the AR from the Beta and nerfed the Repeater?

Now I'm sure many of you will immediately dismiss everything I laid out, but for people who have been following Reach from Day 1, you most likely thought about everything I've mentioned above. I don't know about you, but Bungie does this with EVERY Halo game they release...
This it the way it ALWAYS happens...
-Bungie says something.
-People follow it like the WORD OF GAWD.
-There's a slight minority who know the way people try to be sneaky about things.
-----This slight minority just knows that Bungie will fail in some way like they did with Public Custom Games in Halo 3.
-Some people try to discuss it on the forums and enlighten others to follow their sneaky tactics, but a majority dismiss them.
-The game gets released and everything the minority has been saying has turned out true, AGAIN.
-People forget how Bungie has mindgamed everyone and they go on their way while the people who have followed everything from Day 1 are left disappointed.
-Bungie outsmarts everyone again. Profit.

yes drawign attention to how bungie cant develope a good sandbox is indeed a pointless endevor
When you use menial examples in an attempt to make a big point, it is pointless. All this hyper-examination of the smallest and least important things while ignoring the big picture is little more than propaganda. Plasma Rifles aren't used in MM (yet), and its addition may be redundant, but it is no way an indicator of a deficiency in Reach's sandbox.

Oh really? How about when Bungie told everyone the reason they couldn't put the Fuel Rod Gun into MM because it would lag like bananas?
Oh wait, that's right, it's in Invasion Slayer on Spire and it causes NO LAG...

I'm confused, what does the SMG have to do with a completely different weapon? It's not like they took out the SMG to have the repeater?
I feel, and im sure others do too, that the SMG is to the assault rifle as the Plasma rifle is to the repeater. The plasma rifle feels like a covenant SMG, and it makes no sense to take away the SMG but essentially make the rifle into one.
