You have not had any content taken away from you so please stop saying that you have.

Before we start let me say first off I am no "Desticle" I have not bought TTK and I have no intention to do so until I see review scores and impressions that make me feel its worth my $40 purchase. So I am missing out on the new content just like you guys are. I don't drink the Kool Aid. I think that $40 for a DLC is a joke even if it is an "Expansion". I personally believe I am one of the most outspoken critics on the forums regarding TTK and its various scandals. Then why am I bothering to post this you ask? Because I believe in fairness and the ranting and raving I am seeing in thread after thread is not fair towards Bungie. It is a HUGE overreaction and the bombastic claims of being robbed of content and being scammed is just downright idiotic. You have not had any missions, strikes, raids, or weapons taken away from you that you have purchased. You can still play all the TDB missions/strikes, HoW missions/strikes and you can certainly still play the vanilla missions/strikes. The same goes for the crucible. You still have every right to play the maps that you have already paid for in the classic playlists in the crucible. The only thing you have been locked out of is new endgame content like Nightfalls, Weeklies, Raid etc etc. That is not content that you bought that is a FEATURE of the game. A feature that centers around the latest content. When you bought TDB you bought the strikes, missions, gear etc etc and the Nightfall then took that content and featured it every week. Now that TTK is the latest content the Nightfall now features THAT content. So no you don't get to do the Nightfall because the Nightfall features new content. Content that you have not paid for. So please stop acting as if Bungie came into your game and pulled all of the missions and gear from your bleeding fingers and pissed on your Ghost. This is how expansion based games have operated for YEARS now. The new expansion comes out with new gear, new missions, and a new level cap. That new content is then featured front and center in every way and the old content is pushed off to the side. WoW, Diablo, SWTOR etc etc have followed this design for years. This is not new and this not shocking. They did it for TDB and they did it for HoW, but they did it on a smaller scale because they were smaller packages. TTK is essentially Destiny 1 part 2. So of course its impact on the day to day functionality of the game is gonna be MUCH more noticeable and much more profound. You paid for content. You got that content. You still have that content. You can still play that content. Features such as the endgame activities however will always be geared toward the latest content and if you don't have that content then you obviouslly cannot participate in the features that use that new content. The same goes for the levelcap as well. You paid for the level-cap to be increased in each of the new DLC's that came out because they were TIED to that content and you need that gear in order to REACH that new cap. They have now raised it again and have tied that cap to the new gear. Gear you don't have access to because you have not paid for it yet. So of COURSE the Vendors are going to be selling the latest and greatest gear. Do you honestly think that they should still be selling old level Vanilla gear like Shadow Price or The Devil You Know even though its been outclassed ages ago? I understand that you are upset that your options are limited now because the content you bought is no longer featured, but don't sit their and claim that it is no longer there or that you no longer have access to it. Because it is and you do.

There is one thing you are missing. Both Microsoft and Sony are refunding people because they agree with their sentiments. They would not do this if we were wrong. So even if you don't give 2 craps, the ones that matter about this problem, acknowledge it as a problem. Agree with it or not, they agree.

      • Having a genuine counter argument: crucible is not all the same, Yes you have the same maps, but the some of the gametypes are gone, salavage and rumble are gone, those are two vanilla gametypes that the people who didnt buy TTK should have. Also, the vendors cant be used by vanilla players anymore, as they only sell TTK items, which can't be used by vanilla players

      • even what TDB and HOW came out you could still get gear/weapons and you could still do nightfall just not on the week it featured the new stuff. You could also get max light via iron banner. now it seems all that is gone. plus who in the world do you know spends 100 bucks on a game just to be locked out of that game 12 months later. no one would spend that kind of money with that knowledge. They didn't even warn people which is even worse.

        • Actually, we have had things taken away from us: the nightfall, iron banner, and trials of Osiris (for those that bought the HoW) are all locked off to TTK players. In the pervious dlc's we had alternates routes to reach max level, now non dlc owners have no way around this and no real reason to play.

        • You say I can play every mission. What about Skoriks, the Archon Slayer? Yes, it was a little turdlet, but it was a mission I can no longer play (nor someone who owns TTK for that matter). Beyond that, I can't start a new character and power level by choosing heroic modes (again, neither can a TTK owner). I can't run dragon strikes for drops, or XP or Vanguard Marks, or farming glitter, or anything else. It's now impossible for me to find a Comedian, or a Secret Handshake, or a Party Crasher. TTK owners can't do any of those things, either...BUT they can run new versions of the strikes, and they can run daily/weekly/whatever for power levelling and Legendary Marks, and they can find (or purchase from a vendor) whatever new shotgun Destiny has available, and use it. Of course they took away content. They took content away from everyone. It's just that they have left a gaping hole for those of us who don't wish to plunk down $40 every four to six months, versus replacing it with new content for those who do. ...and here's the thing. They are entitled to do so. I agreed to the T&C, which specifically states they can remove features, content or what the hell ever they want. The artificial level cap...wellllll, that's a little more gray. Legally, sure, it's "new". Ethically, it's a shit thing to do to someone who has given them $95...especially since they had established precedence (twice) that level caps are raised for everyone. What that means is, I can no longer trust Bungie (or possibly Activision...though, surprisingly, this particular issue seems to be all Bungie). So will I give them $40 more? No. I won't be giving them anything more...not even if it goes on sale for $5, because they'll just do the same thing again next time. I will stop playing the game that I loved because it has become a game in which I can no longer invest myself. I will go and change all my reviews from 4 stars to 1. I will advise people either to not "purchase" a Bungie game for the reasons I've outlined, or to expect this same behavior in the future. And I will complain on forums. Those are *my* entitlements. If you are willing to accept this behavior, and are still willing to give them the $40 (or the $25 or however much for the next expansion), then more power to you. You're absolutely welcome to do that. You'll be going in fully aware of the situation. I had an expectation that was different based on previous behavior for the game (I didn't buy the game until after TDB was released and I didn't buy the expansion pass until after HoW was released). I got burned by those expectations, but this is exactly why I don't pre-order content. It didn't save me the $95 (I would never have "bought" the game had I known), but it did save me the $40.

          • What I don't get is why anyone thinks they have a valid argument on this. I can't take anyone seriously who says they really planned to keep running the same old nightfall and weekly strikes or the daily heroics. Everyone in the entire community, even the most dedicated desticle, was sick of the repetition and dying for new content. When it comes to ANY video game series, no one keeps playing after an expansion drops if they're not going to upgrade. The entire premise of their argument is founded on bullshit. Did they REALLY want to keep grinding at 34/170 for nothing that matters anymore? No. And if it wasn't that, it'd be something else they'd cry over. They just want to cry...they NEED TO cry.

No, I'm sorry. Those arguments were true in both TBD and HoW. They don't hold water in TTK which had removed content. I own TTK before anyone accuses me of being partisan.

            • At this point, why would you continue to play Destiny without TTK? Before TTK dropped I hadn't played for a good 2 months because... Why? Everything was maxed out ages ago, so what's the point of playing stale content? Crucible I can understand I suppose, but if that's the case I would think you'd want to play the new maps and modes. Shell out the money and stop being cheap.

            • I guess my biggest problem with this dlc is that you cannot even get new/better gear at all without TTK. In HoW they made the whole game be able to get max level, play ALL crucible playlists and be able to still achieve some sort of success. Still being limited to the real end game content. Such as PoE and Trials of Osiris. Now even Iron Banner or all level advantage based activities like that can't be done by anyone who hasn't bought TTK. It bothers me to hear that my friends don't have the money for it yet and I cant even play even standard control with them. Bungie introduced almost a brand new game that older players who left want to come back. They have nothing to look forward to if they don't have the cash to buy the dlc. HoW may not have had the best pve end game out there or some other elements might not have been as good for some people. At least EVERYONE could enjoy being level 34. It's just a shame that everyone can't experience being a Sunbreaker/Nightstalker/Stormcaller. It's a shame not everyone can't enjoy at least the minimum of TTK.... because Destiny is truly at it's best right now.

            • You should remind people that this is a planned 10 year MMO. That if they wanna have the fun in having playing Destiny they gotta be in it for the long haul. People want IB And TRIALS but don't wanna pay the price to get access to that stuff, The stuff comes with TTK exclusive gear so you don't buy it you don't get it. People just gotta realize that playing this games is a huge commitment 10 years that's freakin 10 years of your life I'm freakin gonna be 26 in 10 years and I plan on playing destiny during those years, that's the commitment you have to decide whether you want to have or not.

Running servers 24/7 cost money. Many company make new games and shut off old servers. Because they cost money. Leaving you with only single player content. It cost me $140 so far that equals out to $0.38 a day. I spend $15 a day on smokes.....so...... Also I pay $100 a month for Internet. Which works out to 3.28 a day.....

                  • Damn, whole lot of strong opinions and mean words being thrown around in this forum. Anyways, I personally think that people who didn't buy TTK "lost content" or in other words "they lost things they ca- could do". That being said, the content that was paid for isn't made to last forever. Everything dies eventually (or something like that.) If you like destiny and you still want to play it I think it's as simple as just accepting that for what it is and buying the DLC so you can continue to play destiny with its new and old content.
