The one about the story.
Better story has been a big request from the community since Destiny first launched last year. Many of you have gotten through the initial story missions. There are still some untold elements in the end game, but what are your thoughts on the story so far. What do you like, what do you dislike? What do you think about the characters, are they more interesting than in the past? Did you enjoy the new cut scenes? Let us know what you think.

I enjoyed it! It actually felt like a story. Team Cayde-6 for life!
-
It was an excellent story bungie, save for one thing: It felt a little short for $40. But other than that I deeply enjoyed it.

Edited by Master Chef: 9/16/2015 2:15:24 AMReally enjoyed it, the story telling approach with the cutscenes did it for me, and the personality given to the vanguard, cayde was just too funny!, it made you care about the people in the tower, care about what you were doing. The level design was a lot more improved, with the dialogue, and every mission was different from one another, which was another important factor for me, it's wasn't just ghost open door, horde mode, boss spawn, hide and snipe, there were mechanics to them, like the mission where you go to crotas end and you have to sneak around the death singers really scared the shit out of me! my only complaint is the main story felt kind of short but very good quality, then again I have played all day.. But there's still lots of quests for me to do, But overall I'm impressed, well done bungie! You outdid yourselves.

I wouldn't know. I'm locked out like the rest of us. Ha ha.

ThumbsUp: -Cayde. You guys have brought this vanguard to life!! He is by far my fireteams favourite character :) I am hoping the other vanguard show more of their personality in the future. -Lore Missions, opening my mind and letting in some story from the destiny universe because it was in the game was a great change. -Cutscenes. -The movements of struggling Cabal on the Phobos mission added a much needed extra layer of realism and depth to the world, so cool. NEEDS to be added more to your games. ThumbsDown: -In my opinion the flashy cutscenes are great but the upgraded CGI is un necessary. More cutscenes with normal graphics would have been better -Missions built for quests vanish after they are complete. Pointless waste of content and work put in to create them.

Not enough.

Great story and cutscenes! Keep it up!

Good job on the story

The story is alot more streamlined and clearly polished. The characters also have alot more depth and personality. It's a vast improvement over year one. The cut scenes are also implemented very well. Great work in my opinion.

Thanks again Bungie and Cozmo for doing a great job with the Taken King. So far I'm loving the new cut scenes. On the opening cinematic or any cinematic is there a way to view them again outside of a mission? The new Grimoire is for the most part great but confusing. I'm struggling with who is writing in some of the grimore. Is it Taken, Guardians or someone else? Is there a way to view ghost discovered Grimoire outside of a mission or sandbox? The new quests for the most part are straight forward. I do find it interesting that strike missions only have easy and impossible if you are at a low light level. Do more difficulty levels open up after the raid or completion of a strike at the highest difficulty level?

Good job

Simple. More Nathan Fillion. More Cayde

I thought the story for ttk was better than the story for the entire rest of the game. The cut scenes were amazing and the banter between the vanguard was awesome. It gave a better picture of what they are like. I didn't want it to end.

Edited by Benzene21: 9/16/2015 9:37:51 PMThe story needed more cut scenes. Basically, what we see in trailers is 95% of the cut scenes. The first cut scene was nice but why was it the first one? See, this is the problem with storytelling in this game. The battle between awoken and oryx, how and why did it start? When did oryx arrive? What happened that caused the queen to sent her fleet to destroy the dreadnaught? I did not like the way taken king's story was told in the main story missions. The story was short and when you are done with it you don't feel like oryx was a big threat. Only one guardian defeated him (I am not talking about the boss fight difficulty) when the vanguard kept saying that an army was needed to take him down. I really expected this huge war between oryx and his army and the awoken, the vanguard and the City, but this is not what happened. I thought this was going to be like Star Wars when the good guys were trying to destroy the Empire. The build up was great, but the story and conclusion were poor. This story had so much potential. I really like the hive storyline (it's my favorite one) but I was disappointed with the main story of TTK. I like some of the story missions though, like the one where you go back to crota's chamber, but overall, the story could have been much better. Better than previous expansions? An improvement? Yes, but as I said, I expected more.

The storytelling is *vastly* improved. The interplay between the characters makes for a much more compelling narrative. And if you take the time to read all of the "Book of Sorrows" grimoire cards (from a website or something) it's even more engaging. Very well done there so far, I hope this keeps up.

Why do no npcs ever go with us on missions? Cayde should've come with us at least on the mission to get his stashed stealth drive. Zvala on the phobos one, etc. They never do anything. These are supposed to be some of the strongest and most legendary guardians and they stand around a table 24/7 AT LEAST have our character involved in cut scenes of their meetings.

I loved the new story and the cut scenes were amazing! I watched that opening scene probably a dozen times already.
-
Yes and yes. Great story. Seemed like you guys thought a lot about it. Plus, some of it is left in the air. Shoot I even had to look up some cards for deeper lore this time around

A big step in the right direction compared to the rest of the game. However I would like to think Bungie is working on fixing the story from vanilla Destiny. I mean, there were different Cabal factions?!? Who knew??

As a Designer, I can see and appreciate the hard work that is and has gone into this game from the dev team. I loved the life the characters where given by the animators and writers. Things I disliked and was a little bitter about is the amount of content that is not readily available anymore to anyone that is locked in year one who has purchased the DLC. I don't feel bad for the people that do not have the DLC from year one. I feel bad for the people that paid for the DLC that can not have the same experience as me and many others for the content that was paid for. I am a day one fan and still is. Destiny is a great game, Bungie is a great Developer and Activision is great at marketing. I feel the choices that are made by whomever on the team(Bungie and or Activision) feels shady to many people. I just hope there is reasoning behind the choices made leading to The Taken King for the future of the story of Destiny and my guardian. May your light stay strong Guardians! P.S. I absolutely will not pay for emotes after playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - CD Project RED released missions and new skinned characters for free.

Story was great. Wouldve being better if it was a little longer. I would love to see my Guardiand fighting in a cut scene.
-
I want more. I crave more.
-
Pretty solid, loads better than vanilla game

I loved the story and characters cut scenes were great my only complaint is it was way to short other than that great job
