So for the controversy of TTK locking old content down, what are your guys' thoughts on it? If I don't have the right answer for you, post "other" and list in the comments your thoughts.

The poll results make me happy

Like an upscale NY club, not everybody can get in. You got the money? You got access like exclusivity in upper class clubs and circle. It is what it is
-
Yes its fair. Its what every mmo has done to remove that meta of using the same weapon over and over. I personally accept leaving my fatebringers and gjalleys in the vault.
-
1 ReplyYes this should've been common knowledge coming into Destiny If $40 is too much go get a job and stop searching for handouts

The way they word it is as "a service" you paid for so legal it would stand even if it was on a disk. It's morally shady as hell but legal. You gotta pick which side you want.

8 RepliesThere is no reason to lock people out of content they already paid for. It's just shady business trying to make more money off of cheating people. And before anyone says "That's what MMOs do" I have 2 points. 1. MMOs don't do that. (I can give many many examples) 2. Didn't you all claim Destiny wasn't an MMO? It's selfish of Bungie. They are in the wrong. Bring the hate.
-
Why didn't they released a separate game? Why I have to be locked out of content that I already owned? What kind of paywall is this Bungie? Locking out of the game Non-DLC Owners. Nice. 10/10 Best company.

Edited by Skyknight11: 9/16/2015 8:47:06 PMPATCHES AND UPDATES: Bungie may deploy or provide patches, updates, and modifications to the Program that must be installed for you to continue to use the Program. Bungie may update the Program remotely without notifying you, and you hereby grant to Bungie consent to deploy and apply such patches, updates, and modifications. Here how they can do it for all the complainers. This doesn't mean I agree with some of the things they got locked out of.

I understand locking us out of rift, mayhem, and TTK strikes, patrols, the raid, and the subclasses. I do not think that it is fair to lock us from the Nightfall, level 40, and choosing the Crucible Playlist.
-
You accepted the user agreement. Complaint invalid.
-
Let's leave the old content and not recycle it for those who decided to support us. That won't take away from the DLC or anything
-
1 ReplyYes and the only way to succeed is what they did drop year 1 stuff my first green drop was better then year 1 exotics
-
Not even gonna waste my money on it.

13 RepliesTheres a difference between content and end game activities. No expansion means no end game activities. However the content is still all there for vanilla players https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/154048170/0/0

Edited by bnarsty: 9/16/2015 4:57:16 PMPeople seem to think it's some huge conspiracy. It's not. It's just the natural profession of destiny. Take the nightfall for example. They brought that up to year two standards. In order to give you all what you want they would have to set up a whole new system or way to keep it vanilla while also adding a whole new experience. Everyone in all their outrage forgot that maybe they just wanted to make the game as good as possible for people buying the dlc

Edited by MysticalSnurtle: 9/16/2015 4:36:14 PMHasn't it always been this way?? Why are people complaining now?? I remember before I got the dark below season pass I was essentially locked out from all the featured content unless a vanilla version of them just happened to be playing. When Bungie said that they were re-vamping everything I don't really understand how this is surprising at all. Its almost as if some people thought that they could still get (new) partial content 10 years down the line from just having bought the Vanilla. This makes no sense when you think of the costs of maintaining the Destiny servers.
-
4 RepliesIt's called capitalism. It's not socialism where you get something for nothing and somebody else always pays. You don't get FIFA 16 just because you own FIFA 15. From what I have seen, the new content is extensive and fantastic. It's a great deal in my book.

I made a different more simple poll here https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/154033185/0/0/1 it also has information about the problem more details can be found in the feedback subpage https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Topics/0/Default/None/Feedback

I hope people don't see the extent of the locked away content and what it's all about. Which is also not really well specified before the poll. A list with the things unaccessible is needed before asking for a poll. If the players are aware what's going on and don't care then this community is hopelessly lost beyond salvation.
-
Your poll is weird. I bought ttk but I don't think players should be locked out of content they paid for with the original game. It basically means Destiny is a rental unless you stay current. It's not like if I don't buy dlc for Borderlands, I essentially get locked out of additional content. I just can't play what I didn't pay for. It's a pretty shifty tactic imo.
-
If this is what Bungie wanted to do, they should of sold TTK separately. It's like if you bought Halo 3 and when Halo 4 came out, Halo 3 was worthless because it was "evolving". It was a dick move and anyone who says otherwise hasn't seen the paywall I witnessed this morning before installing The Taken King.
-
2 RepliesFirstly, I selected other as your question is not specific enough for my current situation so my answer is 'it depends'. I'm just another Xmas noob that got addicted and keeps throwing money at my screen. I bought TDB about a fortnight after it came out and preordered both HoW and TTK but to be honest have still not quite got my moneys worth out of the base game let alone the expansions. To explain, I'm three moments of triumph short in that I've never completed a hard mode raid or Skolas as most fireteams don't have the patience to carry crappy players like myself. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to playing my new copy of TTK but...I was thinking of buying another console so that my wife can occasionally play Destiny with me rather than just spectate. I'm a little unsure if I'll have to buy TTK twice in order to enjoy sharing experiences from all the PvE content from year 1 including nightfalls, etc?

1 ReplyIf you don't trust Bungie after year one why would you still even be here people? You're idiots, that's why. "Always shun that which makes you angry." - Publius Syrus.
