OK consider this a theory based upon some of the happenings going on in pre ttk destiny. Now, we've seen multiple times in multiple instances, people turn in TTK quests, and do NOT get anything that hasn't been released yet ie, progression of quests, rewards, etc. Now, when taking the black hammer runestones to eris, I noticed that the little screen that came up said "Subtle As a Hammer" and Eris spoke of translating the runes since the speaker can't himself. My speculation is that turning in that runestone activates a quest line maybe leading to a new weapon or gear, but since we are still in pre ttk, the questline isn't activating. Maybe when ttk launches, we will get something beyond just a little rep from her. What do you guys think?
