I Owe Bungie an Apology & YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PS4 CONNECTION SPEED ISSUE
So I recently boosted my internet connection to 60mbps in an attempt to fix latency issues I was having in Crucible but when I would test my connection it would say 23mbps. Odd, all my other devices are getting around 54 to 60. So I dug into this issue to try to figure out what was going on and lo and behold a lot of PS4s are getting anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 of your provider's actual internet speed.
SONY HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR OVER A YEAR. And the only thing their customer service could tell me is that if there's a network issue they're working to resolve it. I would advise that you check your connection speed to see what you're getting. My brother who lives in another state has 100mbps and his system is only getting 17mbps!
This is not an issue on Xbox One only on PS4 and there doesn't seem to be an explanation for why . Please check your connection speeds and post your findings here. I need to know if this affects all PS4s or just some.
(check your speed in your ps4's web browser as well as the setting menu please)
And Bungie I'm sorry for being pissed at you for lag when Sony's been throttling my connection.

What do you need 100mb for? I mean it clearly doesn't affect at all your Destiny experience, excluding patch downloads all the rest from crucible to raids runs smoothly on 20mb lines...and also on 5mb lines and lower. Latency counts but honestly the bandwidth used in a 6vs6 crucible match is around 1mb. I've just upgraded from a 5mb line to a 100mb and even with the crap ps4 hardware I went from 4mb to 27mb and I don't see any difference when I play Destiny.

3 RepliesI work in shanghai and it's even worse here. I supposedly have a 100mps service but ps4 used to show <1mps on average. I would be luck to get >1mps. And sometimes there will be a random internet ban that will prevent me from even signing into psn. It got so bad at one point I would sleep early and wake up at 3am to play hoping that the non-peak would help. I would get furious to see all my friends playing Iron Banner while I can't sign in. Then it got better when I get the provider's "premium international package," which will get me about 15-20mps. It still isn't close to 100mps, but it works smooth and on very rare basis do I see opponents red bar and skipping around invincible. What I am curious about is at what at speed is considered playable and ok, and whether anything more will be overkill.

2 RepliesGlad I'm on xbox. We might not have that many exclusives but we don't have this crap or credit card hackers. Hopefully Sony will fix it, that would be really dumb if they didn't.

1 ReplyWe fought with comcast for a month about our Internet bc our speed test would only show 20-35 mbs and after talking with sony i was told that there is a CAP on the amount of Internet allowed, that cap is 60mbs.but the average is 30.i currently have xfinity blast from Comcast (150mbs) and my sony ps4 spped test is 37mbs... Its totally screwed up bc unless you are told the info from sony you dont know this and i think we should be told this from the beginning.. Tighten up Sony take the cap off, what are you so worried about??

2 Replies10.6 and 3.8 on my connection test, my pc which is in the same room as the PS4 and also connected wirelessly gets 30.4 and 12.6Mbps

3 RepliesIt's because the ps4 NIC only handles up to 30mbps. So it's not them throttling you. Just that piece of hardware isn't up to par. Something had to suffer for that DDR5 ram.
