Why Bungie Has Lost an Extraordinarily Loyal Customer

I have been a loyal customer of Bungie, not since day 1 of Destiny but since day 1 of Halo 1. I have played all their games since, dropped countless hundreds of dollars on them, and spent hundreds if not thousands of hours likely playing them. I never had time to get the second Destiny expansion as life got busy, and here is where my problem lies. Because I took a break from the game, now with TTK coming out I must buy the second expansion and the TTK expansion, which will run me $60. That's right, I have been with you since day 1 on Destiny, attracted at least 5-10 other people into playing the game afterwards, helped you Beta test it, and still I have to pay the exact same amount to play TTK as anyone who is a complete newcomer to the game. This is outrageously unfair. Not to mention they will actually get more than I will for all of this, but I don't even care about that. As day 1 adopters there is no way we should have to pay the same amount of money as newcomeds to the game for this expansion. Never before in history has a game company tried this, and no wonder why. It is literally the biggest slap in the face possible, and the greediest, most disloyal thing I have ever seen a company attempt to do to its most loyal customers. There id no worthy explanation for it, other than screw you guys we want more money from you (even though most of you have paid over $100 to us already on Destiny alone). I am thoroughly disgusted, and while I will continue to play the game likely and not let Bungie ruin that for me, sadly I won't be able to ever bring myself to spend the $60 required to get up to speed with the game, as it feels like I'm being told they literally give 0 shits about me and their loyal customer base, and I may as well be a new customer to them for all I care. Screw you Bungie, you have lost a longtime customer unless you realize the terrible deceit of this move and do something to correct the situation. Sincerely, a really pised off 10+ year customer of yours.

  • Extraordinarily loyal my ass. You started when they made their most popular series to date and you're now bailing after one bum run. That's not loyalty, it's bandwagoning. Loyalty is taking a chance on a game developer despite knowing full well that the publisher is a backstabbing money whore that cares only for the money that a game can rake in and being disappointed that the game was only good, not great.

  • Cool story bro. Did you know that I played world of war craft for many many years, buying every expansion individually when it came out for like $40. It may have been more I can't really remember. But anyway, if you were to go to the store and buy it now, instead of the $300+ on just the games I spent, you could have all the same content up to current for around $70. And that doesn't even include the years of $15 a month sub fees.. and it's not the only game, just the one most obvious about countering your point.. this has literally been happening for almost 2 decades now. Stop being a little bitch about it.

You think you got screwed over. I live in Australia and just the taken king dlc is $70 on top of the $40 on the season pass and $100 on the game. The most money grabbing attempt ever, there is no way I would even consider purchasing TTK.

    • Bye bye. I get the new madden and NHL games every year. Do you think I'm calling EA and complaining about loyalty? Costs money to play new games bro. Stick to Steam if all you're after is free games.

      • *Expects to be treated with special perks just because he played previous games.* *Claims DLC Prices for day1 adopters are never the same as newcomers* The self-entitlement is strong in this one. Just because you played previous games doesn't mean you should be treated with special care and given things that other fans dont get. DLC Prices are the same across the board, you missed a DLC Drop and need to buy that? Thats your fault not the Dev's, If you were really the Die Hard fan you say you are, you'd of bought the limited edition and got the first 2 DLC expansions for free. You don't deserve to be treated any differently, the price is not going to change, get over it.

          • Good riddance. Self entitlement, a hand full of arogance and with a splash of ignorance. This isn't new at all, you just aren't a gamer apparently, considering whenever an extension of a game series happens, the prior content cheapens. You just want to feel like a special snowflake, I so want to hold a torch to you...prick...

Does no-one play WOW? Do you not realize currently ALL the expansions are around $10 now, when upon release they averaged $40? (Iike Taken King hmmm) You pay a premium to be the first to experience their content. Whenever you wait it's ALWAYS going to be cheaper. It's only been a common fact for...I don't know, the last ten years. I also have played since Halo 1. But this isn't Halo. This is an FPS with the payment and content structure of an MMO. Simple as that. And there is nothing wrong with it. I, for one am proud of Bungie for not resorting to cheap tactics like micro transactions. They very easily could have. You should be thankful it's only $40 for EVERYTHING and not broken down like $3.99 for 20 strange coins. Ingrates I swear. Lol

          • Ya bungie is greedy. They are the only company I know of that puts their whole campaign (which is crap anyway) into DLC. If anything the campaign should be free like every other non greedy company does it
