2.0 encouraged me to drop my sniper rifle and use a shotgun.
Any sniper rifle enthusiast probably noticed a difference in the mechanics. It is much harder to snipe in the crucible now. When you are scoped in and you come under fire in 2.0 there is almost no chance of you landing a head shot because the reaction to being shot is now exaggerated greatly. Before it was still very possible to land the headshot to defend yourself. I think it was Bungie's way of trying to make the unflinching perk more useful, because you know, it's their perk and they want you to play the way they want you to play. In my opinion it was a mistake, I thought sniping was perfectly balanced and now it is much more difficult which led to me switching to my shotgun which I hate using because as everyone will tell you, they are cheap no skill ways of getting on the scoreboard in 6v6 matches.

I think I'm the only one who finds sniping easier than before 2.0...maybe because I'm not getting blasted with grenades, shotgun, tlw, and thorn as often.

Get a red bar..it does wonders

Well I love how you complain about an entirely realistic situation. If you're being shot you are going to flinch and not get accurate shots. Why is this the only game that snipers being shot are not taken out of the scope? Come on sniping was way to easy and is still pretty easy. Let me guess you also use your high aim assist snipers with hidden hand.

Edited by eternal_napalm: 9/13/2015 12:18:50 AMLol "sniping" in the Crucible! Lmfao! Sniping range is like 10-30 feet in Destiny's garbage PVP. Rarely, maybe 50. Feet. How lame is that! Sniping in Destiny, like CoD, takes no skill at all. In fact, it's adorable. Aim assist for days, big huge hitboxes for headshots. Anyone who plays Battlefield knows precisely what I mean. And if you are cocky and think I'm full of shit, I wanna see you nail a headshot at 900 YARDS (2,700 feet) while compensating for bullet drop :). That thing called gravity and bullet decelleration. It's accuracy is incredible if you can make the shot, it's up to the player

I'm still a -blam!-ing animal at close quarters sniping and can still land headhsots while under fire. Long range tho I still suck.

7 RepliesI was tearing that ass up with a sniper last night.

2 RepliesOne of my first matches I barely scoped in and headshot a guy in the air with Final Boss. Easier to get precision shots now. Went into a match and this guy speared everyone like it was an instant kill. I also noticed movement is slow and it's really hard to move around the maps.

2 RepliesSnipers in Destiny have had an easy time from what I understand. Makes sense that Bungie would try to make it a bit harder to consistently land a head shot when you're under fire. Speaking from the view of someone who finds it pretty frustrating to get my face peeled off even as I rain down shots on a sniper I find it pretty acceptable that you should have to do a bit more work and have a bit more concentration to headshot an opponent who is already peppering you with lead. Shotguns and snipers have both had their fair share of frustrating extremes to play against, seems only fair that both get taken down to earth a bit.

Sniping was abused in Crucible (Ever play Skirmish) and the mechanics were exploited (Drag shooting). I've seen many the video of people bragging about their sniping skills but it's all mostly drag shooting (Mouse dragging on the PC). It's a tactic that takes advantage of hit-detection and Lag. It's a platform wide issue with sniping. Sniping is Aiming, Targeting, shooting. With Drag shooting you are moving your aim to/across your target and pulling the trigger at the right time and with a skillful enough player makes avoiding a sniper very rough either running or jumping. I'm not saying it's not a skillful thing to do or to master, I'm just saying that it's not really how 'sniping' (as a mechanic) should be allowed to work. If they've instituted something that makes that harder to do then congrats on them.

3 RepliesThe only difference I've noticed.. And I have more sniper kills than any other type of kill in crusible (including handcannon and super kills), is that post 2.0.0 it is WAY easier to jump snipe. Flinching is the exact same. So yeah. Take it or leave it but with my experience I can confidently say sniping has gotten a buff if anything.

14 RepliesI've not noticed any difference. Prepatch I always "flinched" on the first point of damage taken.

1 ReplyMechanics feel the same to me. I don't like that they cut the magazine size in half.
