Nolan North sounds like a wimp. They need the voices from Halo. Master Chief, Cortana, or the Halo PVP guy as the Destiny ghost.

If there was a setting in the options to change the voice actor back I would put it on in a heartbeat, I would even donate money towards a fund to help convince bungie to record the taken king ghost with peter. I really do hope peter makes a return, Nolan north is really stressing me out, im sorry if you've grown to enjoy him but losing Nolan north in destiny could never possibly irritate the community as much as those who have to deal with it now, after watching videos recently and seeing how much I missed the dark honest atmosphere that peter brought to destiny I realized that I was a fool for ever thinking he wasn't doing the best job, a fool for thinking that anyone but peter (or cortana) could voice the ghost with such spot on intuition.

They are just two different approaches of playing the character of the Ghost. Me personally, I thought Peter Dinklage was cool. He set up the mood of the entire game quite well imo. However, listening to him repeatedly made him sound very dull over time and that was a problem because of the way you have to constantly repeat the same content over and over in Destiny. If Destiny was mostly a single player game with that epic story and narrative they promised us (while also featuring PvP & co-op multiplayer) then Dinklage would have knocked it out of the park and there would have been no one that would question that. The problem is that Destiny's narrative is that of a grind heavy MMO as opposed to something like Last of Us or Metal Gear Solid. I like Nolan North too and as much as I thought Dinklage was good I easily accepted Nolan North after I heard him a couple of times. There's a reason for that and I think the key factor is that North adds some variety in his delivery and a fair bit of light humour which doesn't get as old as quickly as Dinklage's single note, stoic-like deliveries - which are perhaps a more accurate characterisation but not as fun. All in all, I think Dinklage's characterisation sets up the feeling of a sentient yet magical mechanical organism really well so his is the more technically accurate representation of what a Ghost should be but Nolan North is more fun.

1 ReplyDon't blame Nolan himself It actually just shows how bad the script was (and how they auto tuned nolanbot) But they brought in dinkladge to play the part (keep in mind he had been recording dialogue since odst that is also probably why he didn't care when he was doing the voice) people didn't like it. So they brought in nolanbot Where as they should have brought peter back made him give more emotion and maybe switch up the dialogue a bit

Peter was a much better voice actor and he played his role very well, he was dark and serious at times that Nolan would be comical, that's just something that seems too human and savy for a ghost and it takes away from the immersion of the story. Peter really made me understand what a ghost may actually be compared to Nolan making you try to feel the ghost is a bright friend.

When 2.0 dropped I didn't really like him. Now after the release of TTK and new dialogue I much prefer him over dinklebot. He can be quite comical and he also is a lot less monotone

At first I was with you, I thought he sucked. But I think this is just because he replaced the lines that I have heard so many times by Peter Dinklage... When I did the first few story missions for TTK, I was not bothered by him at all, and I kinda liked the Metroid Prime style scans.

Then I started the first mission on TTK and heard Nolanbot tell me how he searched for me on Earth and I was sold. Call me a sucker, but I really like Nolan now.

I prefer the new ghost voice actor in The Taken King story because he sounds less depressed.

I thought so too when I first played after the update. But hearing his voice the ought the campaign I feel opposite. He did really well capturing that fine line between machine and emotion.
