Hey I'm currently downloading 2.0 and I thought if there was any way to accelerate the process of the download. Then I thought hey why not help the community accelerate the download! So here lets throw out ideas to help people! Personally I'm on Xbox 360. Any tips I see that look legit and effective I will edit in to the post and give credit to the poster.
Edit: There is hope yet! The downloads stop at the 5th Compatibility Pack from what I hear! Can anyone confirm this?

86 RepliesEdited by YourFNFD: 9/9/2015 4:55:33 PMOn ps4.... go to internet connection, choose set up connection, choose custom setting. choose Automatic for all except DNS. Change DNS to 8.8.8.8 and the second one to 8.8.4.4 then finish setup. Went from ten hours to 90 minutes.

http://www.gamezone.com/news/here-s-a-possible-fix-for-xbox-one-download-problems-with-destiny-s-update-2-0-3424547 The second DNS settings worked for me ... still took a while though.

Pausing and restarting the download really does help - at least it did for me on PS4. It helps if you're using a wired connection and can watch the network activity via lights on a router or hub. If the lights stop blinking very quickly - go in and pause the download, then resume.

Man I've been downloading this patch since yesterday at 1230 and got up this morning and still 10 more hours to go. Any advice I'm on ps4?

7 RepliesIs it just me or is the time estimator for the PS3 really off? When I first started the download it said 187,000 minutes left.
Kill me now!
Then I did what was recommended and changed DNS setting to 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4. Well what do you know?
Dropped to 73 minutes.
It is downloading normally now at a quick pace but I am seeing something strange. The timer is staying at 80 minutes and the % is going up. I know this means the timer is adding time to adjust for whatever reason I just found it pretty funny to see the opposite for once. Timer at a standstill and % increasing. I can't take credit for those codes I read they are some Google codes but it seems to be working so try it out if your time is huge or you want to cut it shorter! 🙌

13 RepliesI'm not sure why they thought a 17.5+ GB patch was a good idea. Couldn't they have started smaller patches all week. Everyone trying to download a huge file sized update on the same day is just asking for trouble.

For Xbox 1; Quit and uninstall before trying this. Put the game in and go to games and apps to download. Do not continue when it says "ready to start"...let the percentage go all the way to 100, then open the game. Then it'll download more stuff and you'll be good to go.

7 RepliesI went to the pet store and bought 100 hamsters. They are spinning in their tiny wheels to generate a self made modem consisting of rabbit ears, an old dial up connection, duct tape, hopes and dreams. It is a slight improvement. 8/10 would recommend.

My PS4 said 70 hours.

Edited by Locker: 9/9/2015 9:40:34 AMPrioritize your console in your routers QoS settings. Tripled my download speed this way. Disconnect all other devices from your network if possible.

Woohoo! This tip is great dropped from 180,000 minutes to 73 minutes by changing DNS numbers to that Google one. Thanks fellow guardians!

Edited by Oodlemeister: 9/9/2015 9:55:02 AMChanging your DNS does NOT make your speed faster. DNS is a system used to translate domain names into IP addresses (and vice versa). It has nothing to do with speed. The reason why it magically seems to make things faster is because when you change the DNS settings, your network connection has to reset to make the changes. When it reconnects, it is likely connecting to a different server that has less load and therefore makes your download quicker. The equivalent can be done by pausing your download, waiting a minute, then resuming it. Alternatively, try turning your console off and back in again. You'll accomplish the same thing.

It worked for me, didnt for my friend. After every 15% downloaded it would download way slower. So i hard resetted my X1. After that i would download faster again. After another 15% i repeated that proces. I took me a hour to download the 17GB update this way. Again, it worked for me and didnt for a friend of mine. So its up to u guys. U can always give it a try. It wont hurt or stop your download. (I hope u guys and gals understand what im trying to say here cuz english is not my first language) Good luck guardians! See u on the battlefield!

2 RepliesThrow Potato at PS4.... Nope, oh well at least it makes sense now.

6 RepliesThe 8.8.8.8. Thing didn't work for me

4 RepliesRoughly 95% of you have no clue how the Internet works. There's little you can do to make it 'faster'. Most you all are doing is resetting the connection. There are download caps all over the place.
