How To Balance The Last Word

I have read over the nerfs considering TLW and hand cannons, and I believe that TLW will still be used heavily in PvP. If Bungie's vision for TLW is a short range hip-fire machine with an insane headshot multiplier, then I think they should add a mechanic that increases stability and aim-assist while hip-firing, and they should REMOVE THE ABILITY TO FIRE IN FULL AUTO WHILE AIMING DOWN THE SIGHTS. Considering the fact that the only reason TLW is as effective at range as it is now is because of its huge damage output. Taking away that massive damage potential while aiming down sights, would reduce the versatility of this weapon far more effectively that simply nerfing stats. To ensure hip-firing does not become too powerful; (Due to the mechanics I listed above) I believe that, when an enemy is past a certain distance from the shooter, ALL aim-assistance while firing from the hip should be nullified. Getting rid of the aim assist past a certain distance would curb the effectiveness of the full auto fire mode. However, I also think the hip-fire reticle should be adjusted to suit the precision nature of the weapon. This reticle would then allow highly skilled players to make use of the precision damage bonus of the weapon at longer ranges. It would also allow more accurate players to utilize the bonus more easily at close range. Making these changes would give players a choice between, average, reliable, mid-range damage, and high-risk, high-reward short-range obliteration. All in all, I think these changes would very well complement the optical-zoom, and ADS accuracy nerfs incoming for hand cannons. I realize it is too late for patch 2.0, but it may not be too late for year 2 TLW.

  • Even without full auto, you can tap-trigger that thing fast as hell while ADS. If you're going to reduce the damage while aiming down sights, I'd suggest halving the rate of fire while aiming. Hell, change the animation to thumb-cocking the gun between shots, instead of the hammer-fan, and let that be the ADS firing pattern.

  • Why would you wait until the update to post this?
