First and foremost Report, Report, REPORT! If something is not acting right in the game report it to Bungie via the in game report player option. It is not your job to prove the player is manipulating the game, that job falls on Bungie. Too many players are scared of the report option and don't want to report a suspected cheater and when you don't he then tells all his friends and everyone else and the pile of cheaters grow exponentially. I view the Report option of "Hey Bungie, something weird is going on here and you should take a closer look and find out what is happening." I'm going to list a few indicators that may show manipulation and how to distinguish through what types are being used. [b]Lagswitch[/b] A lagswitch is adding a switch to disconnect service from your router to the console by doing a physical disconnect on the orange pair on a 568b termination, your receive pair. To simulate a lagswitch via a software end people get inventive. Some will force host and UDP attack their own router to lag everyone in the game but themselves. Some will packet filter. Some will alter the MTU settings on a system, router, modem or node in order to create the effect. [b]Lagswitch Indicator[/b] Lagswitching causes the players [b]network indicator to go red bar[/b], because it cuts all incoming traffic including the bungie network indicator P2P connection. [b]This is not a constant red bar, but a player that has a pattern of going from a good signal strength to a red bar when in trouble or close quarters, then once safe goes back to a good signal level.[/b] [b]UDP Flooding Indicator[/b] UDP Flooding causes everyone in the game to lag out except the host, the one that has to preform the UDP Flood. Doors will not open, ammo can not be collected and you can't kill anyone only the host can up until the migration of the host. If everyone in the match is Red bar, report the host and let Bungie go and figure it out. [b]DOS Attacking Indicator[/b] DOS attacking boots players by overwhelming their buffers causes them to lag. Induces a red bar on another player and can cause them to orbit or disconnect from the game, if it is serious enough it can cause a console to freeze. This is a crime and is reportable to iC3. Your entire network will have excess traffic as it tries to over load your routers buffer capacity. [url]http://www.ic3.gov/[/url] [b]MTU Indicator[/b] MTU maintains the communication, so the bungie [b]network indicator works and shows up as green while the effect of the player appears to be lag switching. [/b] [b]Modified Console Software Indicator[/b] The player could run extremely fast, jump higher than settings allow, have unlimited ammo, have heavy without ever picking up heavy ammo, etc...Below is a video of a guy using a software mod on a game of PvP captured by someone. https://youtu.be/nIbsJFaAfP0 [b]Modified Controller Scripts Indicator[/b] Current scripts published online for destiny include aim-assist, anti-recoil of the y-axis, bunny hop, auto-sprint, turbo melee, burst fire user tuned for specific weapon and timing, etc... The point is that a lot of players are cheating in the game, as a community we need to focus on what could be likely misbehavior and report it. You don't have to know with out a doubt, it's just more likely than not something fishy is going on and then you report it. Bungie has to dig through the metadata and figure out what's up. It's simply I see a lot of smoke and call the fire department on a potential fire, I don't need to go inside the building and prove a fire exists--that can be handle by the Fire Department.
