What makes you hate country music?

I get it's supposed to appeal to southerners, which is why my friends and I like it, but why don't you? I never understood why so many people hate it.

  • Cause it all sounds the same to me. Then again so does rap, pop, hip hop, jazz, rock, metal, heavy metal, death metal. Nevermind peope just aren't creative anymore since people use the same subject material all the time.

  • Ever since Hank Williams Jr., country music has declined in quality. It borrows way too much from Pop and Rap (of all things). It talks about 3 things nonstop: trucks, beer, and girls. It's all generic sounding with no since of genuineness. Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams are all gone.

  • I don't like it because I can't really relate to most of the topics that country songs cover. I also like my music to be a bit faster so metal/ hard rock is more my thing. I just like the whole metal/hard rock scene a lot more than the scene that country creates. This might be influenced by the fact that I was raised on bands such as Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and nirvana. So to summarize I just don't relate to country in the same way I do with Hard rock/ metal

  • it's very generic and not a diverse genre. all the riffs are very similar and the solos aren't even that good.

  • I am not a big fan of the stile or what they sing about but what I have to say I hate the most are most not all of the fans but the ones that think just because they like country, they think they had to act like rednecks

Because every song has to do with either alcohol or sex. And because their voices are annoying.

  • Country music artists accentuate their accent to a point that literally makes my ears want to run away and jump off of a cliff. The lyrics and songs are straight silly. This is an opinion as such you were asking for have a nice day and I'm going to go listen to some Shinedown and Breaking Benjamin to get "She thinks my tractors sexy" out of my mind.

          • Part of it may be due to age and rebellion. I hated country for most of my life. My mom listened to it. I didn't like anything my mom listened to. As I got older, I stopped listening to the newer head banging music and reverted to the music I grew up with. That includes the older country. Alabama=master country

It's bad. Plain and simple. They sing about shit that they think is globally normal or acceptable or even understood like its… normal, acceptable or even understood. I mean. I don't give a shit about how you're compensating with a massive 4x4 dualie extended cab diesel-monster. Or how your dog died. Or about you getting shitfaced. Or your girlfriend leaving you. Or your estranged daughter that you love and can't see because your wife divorced you. The list goes on.

                • The vocals. As a singer I can say there are some country (some, not many) I like strictly because of the strong vocals. HOWEVER most of the country music I have listened to is unbearable due to the stereotypical "Ohw ma cow died and mah girl left meh yee haw" kind of vocals and writing.
