Seriously, there is no reason, if Miranda Keyes can dual wield a Pistol and a Shotgun, then an ODST, and certainly Master Chief, can as well.

im willing to be we wont be able to flip hogs over or carry missile pod around
-
i heard you could dual weild the pillar of autumn and a dead hunter... thats the word on the streets.

It's in the Halo 3 ODST FAQ, a stickied thread in the Halo 3 forum.

Where did you hear this from? What am I missing??? D':

Because you arent A super-human cyborg anymore. If you aren't shooting your gun it would be lowered because the normal person cant hold there arms up for 2 hours without resting

If you could get away with only using the pistol in H1, your opponents aren't at your level. It's an unbalanced match. Gameplay always comes before realism in Halo. The Chief fights with the recoil from an SMG yet he can flip elephant with the flick of the wrist. Gameplay first, realism second. That said, it's more realistic for the ODST not to be able to dual wield, as Miranda's dual SMG experience was extremely unrealistic. [/quote] Exactly. If you want realism, Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is coming out in the fall if I'm not mistaken.

dual wielding was so stupid it was good in halo 2 but in halo 3 every thing is so mutch stronger it is stupid [Edited on 05.05.2009 3:51 PM PDT]

Bungie want's to give us a challange. Why do you think you can't dual-wield a Needler anymore?

ODST soldiers can take 4 sniper shots to the head... try it!
-
well on legendary in halo 3 you get shot by 1 grunt with a fully charged plasma pistel ur dead but mariens and sagent jonson can be hit with a full load of brute shot!!!
-
if there is no elites in there i read i am not getting odst and elites can duel weild elites rock ;]
-
In Halo 3:ODST you are no more the super strong spartan but are now a odst this game is more stealth, not brute force
-
If you are saying this from a logic perspective, then think about it... Firstly, Miranda wasn't aiming both weapons acurately and she never even took the shot. If she had though, the recoil would have knocked her off her feet and screwed up her aim. She only had one shot. Secondly, not even masterchief is good enough for such a feat. Have you ever noticed that masterchief can't even keep the smg recoil from hurting his aim... and thats for a spartan. It'd be stupid for an ODST to even try duel wielding. *edit* ... and they beat me to it. [Edited on 05.05.2009 3:30 PM PDT]

It's a cutscene. And she never fired both weapons consecutively. I'm sure MC could do this, but he would only dual wield what it reliably a dual wield. If you dual wield a shotgun and a pistol, I'm pretty sure you will have no aim whatsoever with either weapon due to the recoil from both weapons counter-acting one another. If not for both, then surely you'd have no aim with the pistol. Also there is gameplay balance issues to take into effect. Imaging running into a guy with dual shotties. Can you say Extermination? Well seeing as how dual wielding completely guts the weapons sandbox, I am glad bungie took the more realistic approach. Miranda should not have been able to dual wield (she didn't dual wield the shotgun, it would have blown her arms out of their sockets, she just held two at the same time), it's not realistic. Her, and the ODSTs, not being able to dual wield is realistic. Seriously, you try dual wielding two MP5s and keeping them steady. Or better yet, a .50 cal DEagle. Since there's no more dual wielding, the formerly dual wielded weapons can now have their strength increased (like the H3 Needler's) so they're no longer worthless past melee range. Remember that time you got a midrange plasma rifle kill? No? That's probably because you never played Halo 1.

Miranda Keyes must be a body builder!

Wait, who said you can't?
