Japanese sword design is weak! because they never met much opposition (apart from other Japanese). The Katana was invented BC and you won't see much design change (apart from the odd sword balance) until Europeans rocked up, and they disregarded the sword entirely! European sword design is strong! Because they met ALOT of enemys, they constantly had to keep upgrading there weapons. Vikings invented how to high tensile metal (to weave steel). Any sword you see with a high tensile core (usualy a ridge along the blade) with a blade forged to it, could cut a Katana in half :) easy

2 RepliesEdited by Taka Eater of Crayons(Moo): 9/8/2015 7:43:51 AMThe only reason why Katanas are better than most European midevil age swords is because the katana is folded steel and because of that more time and more care is used to make them European swords on the other hand took less time and the only person who cared about the sword as an artwork is the smith Also try to cut a 15 inch thick block of ice with a katana and a longsword the katana will not break and it will go in 5 inches the longsword on the other hand will break The only flaw in a katana is that it is made for one on one combat to only be used when fighting a singular opponent while European swords except for rapiers, sabers, and cutlasses( pirate sword) are made for multiple opponents and are tools of war unlike the katana which is a dueling weapon Also anyone who said lightsabers get a slap on the head because "duh" its pure heated light it will cut anything it wants to and to be real here an actual lightsaber is Impossible unless there is a way to contain a light into a specific length which right now is impossible lightsabers will just go on forever cutting holes in planets and stars

Chainsaw sword that have smaller chainsaws which have even smaller chainsaws and on THOSE ones are titanium swords. Katanas are made out of steel. Titanium is tougher than steel.
