Kate's arc energy sparked wildly as she lunged at Rex. Her speed easily doubled and her resolve grew even more. Her first swing missed as Rex managed to jump up and over her. The close range allowed Rex to throw a throwing knife and it landed on her head. Her body became engulfed in solar burns as she yelped and turned to face him. She took a second swipe at him and it grazed his cheek. His body locked up slightly in pain as she tried to jab her fingers in his side. He preformed a swift jump backwards to barely avoid it and fired three quick rounds into Kate. Her shields broke as she managed to race away to recover. Rex fired more rounds to where she went and then began to scan the area. He reloaded his hand cannons swiftly. His wounds glowed a faint white as they healed. Silence ensued for a good fifteen seconds before Kate burst out of the tree line and rammed Rex hard in the side. He was sent sprawling to the ground as she kneeled on his stomach and grinned down at him. "You lose, Rexxy!!" She swiftly brought her fingers to his face as the Arc energy died. The needle pierced his jaw but did nothing more than prompt Rex to raise his hand cannon and jam it in her face. She flailed to the ground in pain as Rex got up and pointed his hand cannons at her. "You have nothing left. Go away now, Kate-456." He sounded pretty stern and sincere but something seemed to be holding him back from killing her. She managed to sit on her legs as she looked at her fingers. Her eyes were laced with sadness and began to produce what Exos could call tears, small beads of pure white Light. "I was... so close... I could've beat him..." "But you didn't, so just leave and we stop this pointless fight." Her fingers clenched into grinding fists. The sadness in her eyes swiftly changed to rage as she whirled around and pointed at Rex. "Why don't you just kill me?! You beat me so why make me suffer the loss?!" "You suffer the loss regardless if you die or not. Guardians can't kill other Guardians of the Light under circumstances like this." "But you can atleast finish it instead of gloating over me! Like your better than me!" More Light streamed down her face. "I can't teach you if your dead." "Teach me?!.... TEACH ME?!?!" She sprung up. "You didn't teach me anything! I worked to get to be next to you and I will surpass you and win our bet!" "You can't surpass me if your dead... nor can you try to win if your dead." His tone was quiet and had the odd quality of caring. She paused. Light still fell but she loosened up her hydraulics as she slowly realized his point. She looked at him with curiosity. "Then... you... actually would... agree to the bet... if I won?..." "I don't agree to something unless it's a viable option. But you have to beat me first." Her eyes began to light up. She grinned as she wiped her eyes. "Fine... then I'll just beat you now!" Her body once again became enfused with Arc energy but the various lights on her began to dim. She was draining her life to create a super, a technique used by high level Exos or very desperate ones. Her movements began to become spastic and more violent as she rushed to get Rex. "Kate-456! Stop that, this could kill you for good!" He dodged barely as she swiped furiously. "I'll stop when I beat you! I will beat you! I will!" Her eyes began to fade in and out as she spasticly flailed at him. "I will win!!" Rex back tracked and activated his super. He pointed the gun at Kate. "Stop this now!" "I will win! I will win! I will win!!" Her body collapsed to the ground as her legs snapped. She frantically crawled towards him trying to reach him. "I will...!" She meet a Golden Gun to the face. Her body became engulfed in flames and disappeared into ash, but her Ghost didn't appear. Rex squatted down on his knees. His eyes wide with another emotion, Fear. He searched the ground for a Ghost. "Come on... I stopped her before she drained herself... She should be here!... Kate?!... KATE?!" Some faint fragment of memory had awoken in Rex and it terrified him. The rest of us stood perfectly still as we watched Rex move the dirt and ashes for a Ghost. Angelica was crying and her hands over her mouth. She sobbed as she shrunk into my side. Rex slammed the ground as he stood still. A single Light tear fell to the ground. Soon a Ghost, one with a green shell and a bright blue eyes appeared on the ground. Rex stared at the Ghost for a while as he sighed in relief. "For the Traveler's sake... Don't make me worry.... please...." He cupped the Ghost for a little while then let it go. Suddenly his eyes flashed and he blinked. He looked around then back at the Ghost. He ran several more algorithms before he sat up. "Guess I won..." He looked at us. "Did something happen?" Charles quickly got in his face. Fake tears were pouring out of his eye. "More like what happened to you?! You finally had an emotion! You cried man! And you cared!! I was so sad and... and..." He sobbed loudly as his shell shrunk around him. Rex ran an algorithm. "What are you talking about?" "The feels man!! The FEELS were Real!!!" Charles sobbed some more as he fluttered around Kates Ghost. I wiped my eyes. "Stop being so mellow dramatic!..." "But the Feels!!" I sighed. I looked at the other members. Angelica was a teared mess, Laurentine just stood gaunking at the scene. Amelia and Sri both had their helmet's still on so it was hard to tell their emotions. My radar soon popped up with multiple red marks. Charles stopped crying and looked. "We've got company!!" I quickly raised my armor back on and stood up. "Let's move and think of a strategy!" Everyone quickly got up and moved to the opposite of the sea of red. Kate's eyes pooled with tears as she saw Rex cry over her. She touched his face as her Ghost, Damien, appeared over her. "You know he can't hear you." "I know... But I know he likes me..." She watched as the scene unfolded and the team ran away. "Even if he doesn't know it yet."
