For those that don't read Grimoire cards ....

This site offers a nice quick run down on the lore behind destiny . It basically puts some of the most important parts of the Grimoire in order , so you can get a good grasp of what the story should have been like . http://www.destinytimeline.com Not my site by the way, but thought it was pretty cool .

  • There are a couple of errors in the timeline on that site. For starters, it places the showdown at Dwindler's Ridge sometime late in the City Age, but that is not correct. Palamon, as described, is what would be expected of a Dark Age settlement, and indeed, Ghost Fragment: Dark Age 2 recounts a portion of the story begun in Ghost Fragment: Last Word 1 about Jaren Ward's liberation of Palamon from Magistrate Loken. Dark Age 2 finishes by stating that "only a few short years" elapse between Loken's demise and Dredgen Yor's arrival. The consequences of this misplacement ripple outward. If Dredgen Yor is a Dark Age figure, the Crucible must be a Dark Age institution, predating the dominance of the Last City. To be fair, the Grimoire states, in The City Age, that the transition out of the Dark Age is not clear-cut, but given the thresholds it suggests we can assume safely that the Crucible was founded before the Battle of Six Fronts and at a time when more survivors lived in the wilds than in the City. Again, that fits with the description of Palamon. Beyond that, though, Dredgen Yor's flight into the wilds is precipitated by the murder of at least two other Guardians, one of whom is Pahanin, the last Guardian to speak with Kabr the Legionless. Placing Pahanin's end prior to Yor's arrival at Palamon means that Kabr's expedition into the Vault of Glass must also be a Dark Age event. This once again fits with what we know of the Dark Age, as Guardians and the Vanguard were less organized at the time, and individuals were more prone to chase their own ends rather than those of the City and the Consensus.
