Lol I didn't even read this Thupdate. I thought it was anither recap of the stream like last time.
Sounds to me like they're saying that year 2 content isn't available to those who don't pay for year 2. All y2 endgame is packaged in ttk. There for if you've not purchased ttk you cannot access current endgame.
Do I disagree with that? Actually not really. But I do disagree with ripping the nightfall out of the y1 players hand. Now that's -blam!-ing shady.

Okay which part warrented disaproving ellipses? I believe that you should purchase y2 to access y2. Conversely Nightfall is a y1 endgame and should not be ripped out of y1 only hands.

Nightfall is an all-encompassing playlist. It is neither Y1 or Y2 content, as it is not content itself. It merely cycles available content. If newly available Y2 content, –Old and New Strikes augmented by the addition of the Taken and/or whatever else– utilize this playlist, but you do not have access to the Y2 content, then it makes sense you cannot access the playlists if you've purchased only Y1 privileges. The nightfall is not Y1, or Y2, or Y3 and so on. The Nightfall is Endgame, whatever or Whenever that may be. To access endgame, you must purchase endgame (Current) content.
-
You could access nf without having either dlc, just not when that particular strike was DLC. Nightfall should have a 34 version and a 40 version.
-
Correct, because at the time, the only prerequisites for accessing the endgame was Light Level and DLC. With The Taken King, you will have to be able to reach a minimum of Level 36 (technicality, as this would be the lowest possible level to do damage to max level enemies) AND take on Oryx before you can access endgame content. So I have to disagree. Bungie shouldn't have to make special accommodations for players who refuse to participate in the Expansion. If you want to access the same endgame as everyone else, you have to buy the DLC like everyone else.
-
2 tiers of nightfall isn't the same endgame.
-
Right, but why do we need two tiers in the first place?
-
Because removing a y1 activity from y1 players is wrong... Already covered that. Which is where you countered and then I injected the compromise of a tier.

Edited by MAD X H0USE: 9/4/2015 5:55:06 PMThe nightfall was never a Y1 activity. The Nightfall is an endgame activity, that cycles current content at current difficulty levels. IE: Y1 content at Y1 levels, Y2 content at Y2 levels, etc. This is a concept that is commonly confused and/or misrepresented by the community. Endgame activities come with specific requirements. If you do not meet the requirements, you cannot participate. I'm not saying I'm totally against the tiered system, but the fact is Bungie has no obligation or incentive to build one. ESPECIALLY if it draws zero profit.

You're right. I shouldn't be using year one. I should be saying Vanilla. NF has been a vanilla Destiny piece of content, each DLC did not remove access(completely) from vanilla only players. As far as zero profit. Bungie has subsized each release with their Sony exclusive contract before those products even hit the market. They're not hurting for money.
