• Most racing games have had rain, but never had the deep simulation of how rain actually affects real cars in races. It's just supposed to be the most realistic rain setting to date. Have you seen the beads of water running past the windshield? Gran turismo has never been able to keep up with forza imo.

In Gran Turismo, rain did have an effect on your car. Read my argument further down. It wasn't just cosmetic. The most realistic? To date? Don't make me laugh. PC racing sims have been doing this for longer and better.
Have you seen the beads of water running past the windshield?
Because that's such an impossible feat to pull off (Sarcasm). I haven't played GT5 in a while but I'm pretty sure it had beads of water all over the windshield and windows too.
Gran turismo has never been able to keep up with forza imo
Depends. Both games have their respective strengths and weaknesses. This may come as a shock to you but I own both series.

  • Yet gt6 was a completely failure. Gt's a sinking ship. A car list filled with several versions of the same car, most of them having no interior renders and the exterior is rendered entirely from the ps2. Feeble and extremely lazy.
Yet gt6 was a completely failure.
Agreed. Hopefully GT7 will be better.
Gt's a sinking ship.
Haha. Then why do they consistently outsell Forza with every title? Why are they one of the highest sold franchises of all time?
A car list filled with several versions of the same car, most of them having no interior renders and the exterior is rendered entirely from the ps2.
Agreed. They said they'd put more work into it for GT7 but we'll just have to see.
Feeble and extremely lazy.
And Turn10 isn't? DLC for Forza 5 that contains cars that were already in the base Forza 4?

Yes GT has had rain since GT4, I really do not see your point tbh.

  • Yes, but back then it was just an effect and didnt have any bearing on the physics. No way a First gen PS could even pull that off. Here, its all action/reaction, one of the first.

No, it had an effect on physics. Your car didn't take corners as well, brakes weren't as effective, and the tires spun more. Bumping into other cars could cause them to lose control more easily too. This could be lessened by adding comfort or rain tires, but it still had effects. GT4 was on PS2, silly. Source: I've played the game a million times.

  • No, they tried to emulate the effects, but you can't really emulate something with full certainty unless you got a damn good hardware to work with, at the time, Rain wasnt a factor of importance, who raced in the rain, right? Here in Forza, its a complete different set of data and works in conjunction with the environment. Source: many other racing games.

Of course they were emulating it, that's essentially what Forza is doing here. Do you know what emulating means? To simulate rain, it would have to be nearly randomized. I know that, but to say that it had no effect on the physics is ignorant. That doesn't mean it's anything new, I can name a million racing sims on the PC that do it a million times better. It's all marketing anyway. If they released the game on PC, the trailer would be 3 years old by now.

  • Do you mean: 1. Name PC racing sims with rain effects? Or 2. Literally name 1,000,000 PC racing sim titles?
