Are Non Thorn and TLW users better?
It's a simply question..
I feel like a significant portion of Thorn and TLW users are not as skilled. I watch several streams of "top players" and there is a common theme. Some are good, some are not.
Blink, Thorn, TLW, Arc and Solor grenades.
Now, I'm not hating. It works. I personally play Gunslinger. With HSP and Tripmine
What I have noticed is that the skill it takes to use Thorn and TLW is so little. So I can't wait to see what all these players are going to do after the weapons patch. I think the weapons patch is going to deepen the skill curve. And I can't wait for that.
*I just want to throw this out there too. I think weapons like Thorn and TLW make you rusty and not as sharp. You should see the beating I hand Thorn and TLW players. Reguarly.
AFTER DISCUSSING SEVERAL THINGS WITH ALL OF YOU. I'VE BEEN USING MY MULTITOOL. I EVEN NOTICED MY AIM WAS OFF AFTER USING MY HSP. NOT TERRIBLY, BUT I FOUND MY RYTHM.

In spoilers (wall of text) [spoiler]I have many people on my friends list that do great with or without Thorn, The Last Word, and Hawkmoon Can I do good with them? Yes Do I need them? No Do I do good without them? Yes I have a lot more fun using something different and I think if some people tried other things they could have more fun too[/spoiler] As for the people who use them primarily and can't do good with another weapon [spoiler] Good luck with 2.0 [/spoiler]

1 ReplyNot necessarily, I know bad players that don't use them, and I know good players that do. They just make the game easier, whether the players needs the crutch or not.

Some are good players. Some are bad players looking for an excuse why they are bad and some...some are not bad. A bad player with tlw or thorn well not become a super star...you had to of have some sort of skill to do well

it's really easy to tell who's good AND using crutch guns, or if someone's using crutch guns because they're not good

1 ReplyLol. Or they will just switch back to the weapons they were using before thorn and tlw took over. A good FPS player will always be a good FPS player. I stepped into advanced warfare yesterday and my first game went 20-1 leading the game by a lot. I step into,the crucible and yea it might take a game or so, but once I'm in my rhythm I'll be too 2 in the game win or lose more often than not.

Blame bungie for them being good

'We' blame TLW/Thorn/Scrubgun users but the reality is the blame goes to Bungie for leaving balancing patches unaddressed for so long. It's is the nature of fine tuning balance that eventually a weapon or two will be fine tuned to 11 instead of 10 and break the balance of the game. Leaving this problem unchecked for 6 months is when the problem magnifies itself and the users get blamed rather than those who are in a position to change things.

7 RepliesPeople who hip Fire TLW aren't bad, the people who use the glitch are bad Thorn users who only use thorn are bad...I only use it during trials when 2 people of the enemy team are using it. I usually use hawkmoon or Monte Carlo or the devil you know

you get top 1% and a kd above 3.00. Its more then just the gun, its skill, map awareness, etc

5 RepliesIf you are anywhere top 3% and up you are most definitely better then pretty much everyone. Using a weapon is learn-able. Having the reaction speed, thought process, map awareness to take a OP gun in a sea of OP guns and still remain on top sets you way apart from everyone else.

Shitloads of people use it and, newsflash, the vast majority of them aren't pulling 2.0+ overall kds. I can't wait for the 2.0 patch to drop so that people who complain about the so-called OP weapons can get owned by other weapons too.

I switch between PRs and HCs regularly. I don't feel like HCs are easier to use than PRs. The HCs are just the most "annoying" to die from, so everyone complains. There is nothing more annoying than dying from a thorn burn. But, PRs are just as effective and easy to use right now.

But if you're using Hopscotch or another strong gun, you have lower stats than I do, and you think that I wouldn't be as good as you without my Last Word, you're wrong. Give me a Messenger I'll do just as well. Give me a Mida and I'll do well. As well as TLW? No. But I'm sure my K/D wouldnt even notice it.

1 ReplyI can agree that using thorn was such easy kills that you can get sloppy with it. I think the same for fatebringer on pve. But its hard to just say most thorn users are bad. there are great one and bad ones just like there are good red death users and bad ones.

I thing that not using them and using guns like necrochasm and no land buying will improve acuracy and in the end for all the people relying on thorn and last word when they get needed they will be in trouble because that will be all they know
