Why Bungie never released the original story...

It had to be the money.

I've been thinking about it a lot recently and why the original story that beta players played, came out? Or maybe they lied about it who knows. But what i mean to say is that what if Bungie didn't do it for the money and dlc because if the traveler turned evil wouldn't Destiny be practically, over? No weekly, no tower, no daily, nothing. But yet there could be something else.. Something like the reef and tower. A place for traveler oppsesers or people that know the truth. But it could still be the money. What do you say? Edit:Courtesy of Coolbeeps
Well there is a little known fact about the story. It's writer quit or was fired About an year before the game released. Activision, not wanting to pay royalties, hired a new (and far cheaper) writer and gave him six months to create a story based on the preset lore (something that any writer knows is a tall order). After ma not development was completed, Bungie fleshed out the lore in grimoire cards. So while it voted "it's fun", the correct answer is in fact, money.
Courtesy of Zabbit96
That's what the Reef was for. Once you defeated the Traveler the Tower was no longer safe, so the Vestian Outpost became the new social space. But Activision wanted Bungie to chop it into little pieces, which they did. Hence why multiple higher ups at Bungie left before the games release.
