Who's not going to beat Moments of Triumph ? It's because of Skolas isn't it.

I'm not a huge fan of Prison of Elders, the time investment is too much for mostly crummy rewards.
When Moments of Triumph was released I was a bit wary of Skolas but thought I'd give it a go. I'd completed up to and including 34 so I was okay with the mechanics, but I knew the time investment would be large.
I made it to Skills in about 2-3 hrs...not bad I don't think. After a couple of hours trying to learn the mechanics and down him (and get a bit lucky) I had had enough.
Without checkpoints I've had to walk away, I gave the checkpoint out on the Forum. I have a wife and two kids, I can rarely find 6 hrs to spend playing Destiny.
So to those who have killed Skolas (after the burns were removed) well done to you and I salute you. You thoroughly deserve your emblem, hopefully Bungie with do a 'silver' for those of us that missed just one thing.
Cannot wait for year two.

Edit - Thanks for all the support guys and the offers of help. I have has some advice that makes me think going in as a hunter or a warlock may be a better idea. Who knows I may give it another shot.
Edit 2 - extra question, is it possible to clear enough of the ads, before the mines to make the mines a formality or do ads spawn at the same time as mines.
Edit 3 - I'm on PS4 thanks for all the help offers.

With communication and a proper team it is very do able. With the adds on health now all you got to do is kill them before focusing him. People who say it's easy are wrong but it's definitely manageable. Id be glad to help you on the xbone I have some ciphers to finish anyways

I probably won't do it and it's because of 4 public events. At this point in time I can't even bring my self to play destiny the burnout hit me and it hit hard. Bought a new gaming pc and been playing mgs5 on it and all I can say is damn it looks and plays beautiful. Doesn't make my fans turn on in my rig with everything maxed out. Probably one of the best optimized pc ports that has came out in a long time. Kojima team did a hell of a job on the port. My gtx 970 never goes over 60% usage maxed out and cpu stays at a super cool 30 degree Celsius the entire time.

28 RepliesPost-burns is actually easier and plays out as Bungie intended. Just communicate and everything is fine. Bubble Titan is the best option, by the way. Makes mines easy and allows you some extra defence or offence. Warlocks are your least useful. Skolas himself shouldn't take more than half an hour if everyone knows what they're doing.

I completed Skolas when HoW first dropped. I completed it a couple of times more but like everyone else, I found the time & effort for crap rewards & waste. My (ex) GF only needs Skolas for Triumphs but since I was the one who grinded her character from lvl 6 to 34 I doubt she'll even attempt it.

Just have a bladedancer run and hide over the left (just after passing off poison) to grab that and mid with invis, whilst the other 2 stay right side (yes it will be hot, and yes one will die from poison; make sure the last guardian to take it is a sunsinger with a self rez ready) and rotate as soon as they cap that mine. If you wear Skolas down to the threshold of 2nd mines, you can Gjallarsmash him to death by the time the first mine spawns. Just have the hunter join in the rocket spam, and pop super invis and go towards far left 3 seconds after mines are announced; if that mine crops up first and no-one has started running towards it, you wont get there in time. Make sure your hunter is acutely aware of his gameplan here!

Yeah, I kinda wish the triumph was to beat 34 but then most people would have the emblem, oh well guess I'll be using the sunbreaker vulcan emblem.

2 RepliesSkills is a bit of an investment. The only advice I can give is YouTube is a great resource. Watch videos of others beating him, learn what to do and when. The gameplay can be from any system, the mechanics of the fight are the same. Other than that, communication is key, everyone should have a mic. Take your time and eliminate adds before damaging him. The adds only spawn when he reaches certain points on his health bar. The only time to "ignore" (always be damaging them though) is during the mines. Pass off the "taint" when there are 10 seconds remaining on the timer, and make sure to stick together. With luck on the order of mines and where you happen to be you should be able to beat him.

8 RepliesSkolas difficulty depends a lot on the modifiers. This week seems to be one of the easiest, why don't you give it a try? Titans are also good, specially for generating orbs. Two Titans using alpha lupi, the option to generate orbs when the dome is attacked, create the bubble where skolas can hit it and you'll have almost non stop bubbles. And use blessing of light, not weapons, not dying is more important than firepower. Having one Hunter in the team is probably the best combination.

Yep Skolas is the only thing holding me back,not enough of my friends left that even want to spend the time in there for no reward to try anymore,hoping they start coming back around when TTK drops.
