Who's not going to beat Moments of Triumph ? It's because of Skolas isn't it.

I'm not a huge fan of Prison of Elders, the time investment is too much for mostly crummy rewards.
When Moments of Triumph was released I was a bit wary of Skolas but thought I'd give it a go. I'd completed up to and including 34 so I was okay with the mechanics, but I knew the time investment would be large.
I made it to Skills in about 2-3 hrs...not bad I don't think. After a couple of hours trying to learn the mechanics and down him (and get a bit lucky) I had had enough.
Without checkpoints I've had to walk away, I gave the checkpoint out on the Forum. I have a wife and two kids, I can rarely find 6 hrs to spend playing Destiny.
So to those who have killed Skolas (after the burns were removed) well done to you and I salute you. You thoroughly deserve your emblem, hopefully Bungie with do a 'silver' for those of us that missed just one thing.
Cannot wait for year two.

Edit - Thanks for all the support guys and the offers of help. I have has some advice that makes me think going in as a hunter or a warlock may be a better idea. Who knows I may give it another shot.
Edit 2 - extra question, is it possible to clear enough of the ads, before the mines to make the mines a formality or do ads spawn at the same time as mines.
Edit 3 - I'm on PS4 thanks for all the help offers.

I was in a similar situation. Got to Skolas twice where I had to walk away due to time constraints. Third time's the charm. We downed him finally!

Mines and adds spawn together. However once you get past the first set of mines (having a sunsinger, blade dancer, and defender is great combo). After first set of mines tho, get another set of adds, and before second set of mines. However if you time it right, just before he hits the HP mark for the 2nd set of mines, you can have everyone ghorn him to death and the 2nd set of mines will be a mere formality.

I'm just a filthy casual but managed to down Skolas a couple times. I am by no means an expert. Here's some tips that helped even me. 1. Regroup as needed. Too many adds by you? Take a run around the outside of the map to spread them out. Work your way back to your favorite spot and you can manage them a little more easily. 2. You can kill Skolas at a point to make dismantling the second round of mines pretty easy. Have full heavy ammo in hand and a heavy synth ready. When his health is right about at the "K" in his name, hit him hard with the heavy and use the synth if needed to keep it up. Gally and Weapons of Light help here. The second he dies all adds and the essence despawn. Go disable the mines unhindered. But you do still need to disable the mines. 3. Surprising as it sounds, about 95% of this fight is patience. The only thing you need to get to quickly is disabling the mines. The essence has a timer, but you can recover from the essence killing one of you. And even if two go down as long as the sole survivor does not already have the essence you can recover. Res, regroup, and go back at it. 4. Adds are more important than Skolas. Get them down or at least thinned out and he is more manageable. The only time you should consider ignoring them is if you decide to follow tip 2. Good luck. If your friends aren't on often enough you'll find the LFG sites are a great tool for getting teammates. So far I've found nothing but good teammates using those sites.

I didn't even try tbh. Emblems don't matter to me. I tried Skolas once and left halfway through fighting Skolas because it was so boring.

Don't give up Guardian. I too had resigned myself to remain a Year One Incomplete scrub after 3 or 4 failed attempts, but I gave it one last shot last night. I put an add up on the PS4 Destiny group and within 5 minutes I had an experienced player and an inexperienced guy like myself join. The rest of the Prison took no longer than an hour, but Skolas (as expected) was the real issue. First couple of tries, we worked out that we needed to clear adds first, then take out Servitors. Two more wipes, and we figured out that rotating around the Arena while clearing adds and keeping an eye on Skolas. Soon enough, we had issues with the poison; Me and the experienced guy were running Defender Titan (Me Blessing of light, him Weapons of light), other guy ran Self-Res. We figured out a good order for passing the poison was Defender+Defender+Warlock, and 3 more tries found us completing the Mines successfully and staying alive. On our last attempt, good ol' number 13, we finally beat the bastard. Skolas isn't a fight that requires you to carve out 3 hours of your day, but you do have to take your time. Keep trying Guardian...it's worth it.

I'm not getting it.. I refused to fork out on the DLC at the incredibly low value it was so i've only done everything vanilla Destiny has to offer.

I likely will not complete it. Most people don't even want to fight Skolas anymore and I really don't care to complete the moments. I hope the next year keeps me entertained.

Yeah I always clear ads before we start pounding him Honestly I couldn't beat him with solar burn Me and a buddy with a random got it done with brawler and primary/specialist the times we got it Done the fight 4 times Walked away twice Communication is definitely key One warlock doesn't hurt ether I wanna say don't give up but your right 4-5 hours is a grind

If your on xbox one I will help you beat skolas I've done it several times without the burn. I just need a warlock 2 would be even better

The whole boss mechanics bug me the most about destiny. Its just a cheap way to make something hard. 30 seconds in the middle of a boss fight while passing taint to disable mines on a large map. Really. Or you get team wiped because of a mechanic. Annoying.

No time. Only have 3-4 hrs or so on weekends. I play quick games like strikes and PvP. I hit it them quit it as they say.

3 RepliesEdited by SoloTitan3: 9/2/2015 3:41:33 PMhere is how to do it with ease enter run left till you hit where the mine pops up you should see a servitor. kill the servitor then light skolas up. once ads spawn in rotate to the left and jump up onto the shelf. kill as from their until it gets heavy or skolas gets close. rotate left when one of those two things happen. keep doing that until his bonds are broken once that happens then you got a fun little game of pass the poison. once you are infected wait till your timer says ten the have someone take the poison from you. (i like to have an order of who is taken it when.) when someone dies with the poison the game gives you time to be able to get them back up before you die with the poison. with the unbroken bonds you can do normal damage to him without having to kill servitors. the pass the poison goes until you kill him. but mines are reliably easy have the warlock with rez do the mine that appears at the original platform then a hunter can do the random middle mine by being invisible. the shelf mine is easy just be invisible or bubble. ( i know their are many different ways to do the mines that is how my group has always done that part.) after mines just keep paying poison until you kill skolas. remember when ads come in that is your primary objective, once skolas hits about 10% health a second set of mines will pop up don't worry about those mines kill him with everything you got . once you kill him ads are gone and you can easily dismantle all the minds and your done. actually really simple to put into play aly questions let me know i am on xbox GT BR0mersimpson (its a zero not an o in BR0) hit me up i am almost always down to help

2 RepliesI have helped a few people on Xbox One with Skolas, and completed it on the GFs account on PS4. I'm willing to help people finish up, and I don't have many requirements. 1. Level 34 2. If you don't have a mic, be sure that you can hear instructions (had helped someone finish without a Mic) 3. At the minimum, a 365 primary & heavy - 365 everything is better, but not everyone has that. 4. MOST IMPORTANT requirement, as I am willing to help, please, please, please send a message first... I don't usually reply to random invites when I don't know what you have in mind.
