There is definitely a schism amongst the Eliksni. Each house wishes to subsume the other, but all of them have one objective: reclaim the Traveler's Light for themselves. The House of Kings and the House of Wolves were the most powerful clans or at least that was the case up until the capture and execution of Skolas at our hands and let's not forget that we Guardians also dealt with Kaliks Reborn, the former Prime Servitor of the Wolves.. With Skolas dead and Kaliks destroyed (again), the House of Kings are arguably in an even stronger position than they were before. They control the House of Devils and the leadership of their closest rivals, House of Winter and House of Wolves, is either dead or captured by the Queen. The House of Exile is of no consequence. They are allowed to exist to serve as a buffer between the Hive and the rest of the houses just as the Devils insulate the Hive from the House of Kings as the Kings plunder what remains of Earth and dream of destroying the last City and reclaim their seat in the shadow of the Traveler... The House of Winter and the Cabal have a common enemy in the Vex, but I am not convinced that the Cabal and Eliksni are allies. The Cabal are still struggling to gain a foothold in our system and they dare not approach too closely to the inner solar system, less they draw the combined attention of the inner system Eliksni houses, the Hive, The Vex, the Guardians, and the Awoken of the Reef. Each invader of our system has its own motivations, agenda, and reasons for being here in the wake of the Darkness. The Vex are here to assimilate, The Fallen are here to reclaim the Light, the Hive thirst to destroy the Light, and the Cabal are here for conquest. In their own way, they all serve the Darkness but they are by no means allies.

  • First because this is really just the most glaringly inaccurate thing you said, only the Hive can be said to "serve the Darkness" the Vex also have a strong case. But although I say the Eliksni and Cabal may work together, I think that may be revealed later on. The Houses were for the most part unified, with the obvious exception of Winter and Scar, although no doubt small wordless rivalries occur. But it's not just one common enemy shared, the Cabal and Eliksni literally are against all three, Hive Vex and us, it makes sense that with the fall of Cabal command that they turned to the Kings assuming proper negotiations were discussed. Just because they are war mongers doesn't mean they can't be civil. They're ruthless, but so are Eliksni, they share more than people realize.

It is not an inaccuracy. All of the adversarial races share a common thread in that the Traveler has seen fit to oppose them at one time or another because they are either direct servants of the Darkness or are taking advantage of the destruction the Darkness leaves in its wake. The motives of the Vex are a mystery to everyone but the Vex, IMO, and they do not appear to directly answer to the Darkness the same way that the Hive do. Of the adversaries we currently face, the Fallen and Hive are the ones that have the most direct links to the Traveler. The Fallen want to reclaim the Light as they believe it is their birthright to wield it and the Hive actively seek to destroy the Light. Naturally this places the Elksni and the Hive at odds with each other. The Vex and Cabal are taking advantage of the dormant state of the Traveler to push forward their own agenda. The Cabal are here to gain more ground for the empire and the Vex are here to lock down the dimensional apertures that correspond to their own zero space. The Vex are slowly converting the universe into their own personal playland. We won't even realize that we've been conquered because the Vex will weave the fabric of reality and time itself. History will literally be written by the victor. The Vex, the Fallen, and the Cabal aid the progression of the Darkness, but IMO they are not the direct servants that the Hive are. The Fallen and the Cabal are certainly high level threats but the menace posed by the Vex and the Hive and their respective endstate goals are far more troubling. I am sure that the Cabal are capable of being civil and forming alliances, but they will ultimately serve themselves. I imagine that the Cabal believe they are bargaining from a position of strength and that is a miscalculation given the unthinkable (ie. the Fallen regain control of the Light at our expense).
