Luke Smith Arrogance: "Sure, let me know when to take off work, Luke"

Luke Smith, please keep this guy and his arrogance away from the media: [ NOTE During a livestream for Destiny: The Taken King, Bungie has announced that you can play the new anticipated endgame raid, titled King’s Fall, on September 18 at 10:00 AM PT.] “I’m not going to announce the plan for it on the YouTube gaming stage…But I promise for people who are excited about the raid will know when it’s time to take time off work. We’ll give em’ a heads up”. Unlike nearly almost every other game that comes with the endgame content when you buy it, TTK will not. I will buy the DLC, maybe, when the Raid is available, or simply wait so long that I play one of the other games being released in the fall. Edit 1: I have a different opinion, or mode of business operation, than some of you. My principle is that I expect to get what I paid for, when I paid for it. Or, tell me ... Upfront ... what will be held back., not after the fact. Got it! Some of you operate your business exchanges in a different fashion, giving your trading partner as much leeway as possible. Edit 2: Seems like I should assume Destiny is an MMO, because it is and that is how MMO's operate, even though no one from Bungie has described Destiny as an MMO, nor, said that we shouldn't expect the principle endgame Raid of a product many of your pre-ordered (I did not) when you pre-ordered it. Got it! This is simply the MMO model. Edit 3: Luke Smith is joking and making light of the fact that many of you arrange your work schedule around a video game so he is actually helping you out. Even though, when he will tell you, and the length of leeway time he will give you is uncertain. Moreover, he cannot tell you now if the endgame Raid will be added in one, two or three weeks. Got it! Luke is helping many of you. I can appreciate this point. Edit 4: Video games take a lot of planning and investment and it is a miracle that they get released on time with as few bugs as they do. So, just be patient and do the missions until the endgame Raid is available. Got it. Best argument said by a few very respectful fellow Guardians Edit 5: I know they followed this procedure with VoG and Crota, but many would argue it was less about taking out bugs (because their was still plenty) and more about Bungie dictating how players play. Edit 6: I don't hate the game. I have many, many hours into Destiny and just want the game to improve and for Bungie to keep their word. Not a lot to ask. I appreciate the positive changes such as the improved story / missions in HoW and the addition of ToO. Let's not forget, however, that HoW was sold to include a Raid that was removed and included a PoE Horde mode that was repetitive and had horrible rewards.Destiny will not get better if we as players do not BOTH: 1) applaud the good and 2) call out the bad, or broken promises. Conclusion: I get where a lot of people are coming from, but Bungie seems to shoot from the hip a lot and say one kind one day (such as weapons growing with us and a Raid in HoW) and then something different another day. For me, they are consistently flakey, with their word not meaning much, for example how HoW would have so much variety and great rewards.

    • I must be the only one happy with this. As one of the people who are racing to be first to complete. Not only are there time complications with having to arrange time between 6 people to play through both the story, and raid, as well as possibly having to grind to 40 mid way through all this, it's tough. Without the raid, time restraints are lowered, although still there, we all get to play through and enjoy the early game of TTK. And we have time to gear up so we have a better shot at winning. Overall this has more positive effects than negative in my opinion.

      • Jesus Christ. Twist words much? Interpretate a basic sentence incorrectly again, and I'll beat your ass. This is not arrogant. It's a joke. Id love to take time off of work to hit up the King's Fall as soon as it comes out. Stick a sock in it, jack wad.

        • They have released every raid after the respective dlc. Vog and crota were about a week to a month later than the games release and dlc release. I hope they are polishing it and don't release a buggy raid. I would rather wait a week or two and have a smooth experience. Better than a buggy half finished raid like crota was

          • How long did it take you to reach the level appropriate for VoG? From what I've heard, the Raid is only being held back a week. This gives everyone time to experience the new content and gear up for the Raid.

            • Clearly you didn't have the game at launch or you would know the raid didn't release until weeks after the game released, and there were no issues with that. You won't even be able to do the raid at launch, so why does it matter?

                • First Luke Smith is a programmer, he is not a community spokes person. You are hearing directly from a developers mouth, unedited, unaltered, and most of the time to the point without softening the edges for estrogen filled souls like yourself. That's the mindset of people like him, not all but most. Second if you would read messages and understand the words coming out of people's mouths you would understand. In a post down below, raid is releasing day 1 of TTK but you got your panties in a bunch over him not reveling over a YouTube channel. Not because he wanted to be a dick, but because there was another set platform for those details to become public knowledge. I'm going to guess your new to Bungie methods, so in short. Bungie spends a lot of effort on almost every detail of a game release in a specific motion, I image a whiteboard with topic and next to it deploy method and date and a Bungie employee who is assigned it. Contractual obligations, NDAs, etc restrict people like Luke Smith from speaking out on a topic he is not yet allowed to speak about.

                  • What in the world? Where did you get one from the other? Smith simply included the work comment to imply that yes, they're aware that people would want to take off from work and play the new expansion and Bungie will give everyone a heads up so that people can do just that.

                  • Um, if you thought it would be any different than Vanilla Destiny then you are obviously very jarred right now. However, there are several reasons why this is a good idea that I simply won't bring up here because you're not likely to care. Your post shouts to me; 'I'm entitled to what I want when I want it for no reason other than wanting it.' Guess what? The rest of us are paying for the Raid in the package as well. The reason we're not foaming at the mouth when we heard it wouldn't be available on launch day? Because real Destiny veterans know that there will be plenty to do, and the raid is going to take time to gear for (even if it technically can be done in a day.) The MAIN point is to give everyone in the community a fair enough chance to prepare for the Race for 1st. In case you hadn't noticed, that's kinda how raid releases have been. Even though TDB released on Day 1, people were told a few weeks before hand EXACTLY what time it would be. Now, we're being told a few weeks before launch, that it won't be available immediately. Sounds like fair warning to me.

                  • Let's say for a framework of argument it was an mmo. The biggest mmo in the U.S. is still Wow and upon release of one of its biggest expansions WotLK the raid was NOT fully available upon release. I for one would love for them to put finishing touches on the raid. You don't have to pay extra for it so stop whining or stop playing.

No Mmo type game has ever had the very last end game PvE encounter available at the beginning of an expansion. Reasons include: It will take time for everyone to level and gear up, no way in hell ANYONE would even be able to attempt it within the first few days/weeks. The developers need a window of time to react to player feedback as well as work out any kinks that affect the game mechanics that did not manifest until the game went live. If you played the end game content in the first week or two then what would keep you playing? You don't pay to go see a movie then expect to just see the ending right away.

                    • Are you retarded or just stupid? No game that has a raid, is the raid released. They do that to give players time to reach the proper level and gear to be able to actually attempt it. You are one of the stupidest trolls i have seen so far. Oh btw, Vog was release 2 weeks after vanilla Destiny was launched, and I think CE was released 1 or 2 weeks after TDB came out.

                      • Listen very carefully, okay? The raid is gonna be level 38 or 40. What level are you, right now? Is it 38 or 40? No. Then whats the big -blam-ing deal? The raid will open after everyone has a chance to level up.

Why are people on here so set on blowing things out of proportion? Guy says one thing, and kids like you freak out and call it ignorant. Did you just learn the meaning of that word yesterday? Eager to sound intelligent? Been there, but I wont try it in a public forum. You look like a whiny unintelligent goof. Grow the fuck up. Btw this is directed at more than just the OP. Edit: lmfao I thought you said "ignorance", which could have made sense if what Luke said was actually ignorant. You actually said "arrogance" which is hilariously incorrect. Please tell how you found arrogance in his words. Bonus points if you can do it without checking google again.
