I've been out of school for a while, so correct me if my math is wrong. However, let's take a serious look at the price difference (US vs UK/Australia) and from what I've calculated the UK/Australia is actually paying less for The Taken King. Currency Exchange Rate. $1 = 0.65 Pounds (UK) $1 US/x = 0.65 Pounds/40 Pounds, Solving for X(US Price) = $65 US * Straight up conversion, 1 US Dollar can be exchanged for 0.65 Pounds. The issue people are having is that by using this conversion, UK/Australia gamers are paying 40 Pounds or equal to $65 US. What people are forgetting is Currency Value; if my terminology is correct. This is what you can buy with the currency you're using or it's actual VALUE. Let's use a comparison to determine the VALUE. McDonalds 4 Piece Nuggets. $1.99 US or 2.49 Pounds UK http://www.fastfoodmenuprices.com/mcdonalds-prices/ https://www.fastfoodprice.co.uk/mcdonalds-prices/ * Please correct me if I'm wrong (anyone from the UK/Australia). $1.99 US/$40 US = 2.49 UK/X Here I'm trying to solve for what The Taken King should cost in Pounds using the prices of the Nuggets. I'm using the prices of the Nuggets as a comparison because you get 4 Nuggets regardless of where you live. If you solve for X, the answer will be 50.05 Pounds. 50.05 Pounds is what people in the UK/Australia should be paying while gamers in the US pay $40. Then if you use the Currency Exchange Rate, it would cost $77 US. BUT, and it's a huge BUT (HAHA)....UK/Australia gamers aren't paying in US Dollars. They're paying in Pounds. * PLEASE stop me right now, if they're asking UK/Australia gamers to purchase everything from the US in US Dollars. Cause that would be F***ed Up. The point is...UK/Australia gamers are paying a lot less than US gamers in terms of VALUE. P.S. I can then go into an extended discussion about minimum wages and how much time of work is needed to pay for the same product. US Minimum Wage: $7.25/hour To pay for the $40 Taken King, it would take 5.5 hours of work to pay it off. UK Minimum Wage: 6.5 Pounds/hour To pay for the 40 Pound Taken King, it would take 6.15 hours of work. If the Taken King was priced by value and 50.05 Pounds, it would take 7.7 hours of work. In the end, please excuse me for my horrible attempt to explain Economics but UK/Australia gamers are getting a good deal and let's leave it at that because there are other factors that are involved between countries and I've grown tired of typing.

  • It's the same conversion. $1 is .65 Pounds and 1 Pound is $1.51/$1.54. I used $1 because of 'MUURICA!! =D

  • Try doing your calculation with the price of an Xbone instead, or maybe a toyota, or the average price for a three bedroom house. They will all come out completely different genius. The currency is the standard with which we convert these items. It is up to the company selling them to maximise what they can get from each transaction in each market. It is up to the consumer to tell them when they have overpriced a product, which is what we are doing here. My order for TTK; CANCELLED.

  • You're right. It is the consumers that determine whether a product is overpriced because they're the ones that actually put value into that product. I even contradicted myself when I tried to factor in minimum wage rates. Haha. In the end, I'm just trying to put my "two cents" in and my view on this weird pricing difference. Again, there's a lot of other factors that influences this "problem" and I don't live in the UK or Australia. It's just another outsider's perspective. As far as my order for TTK. Not Made. Yet. Maybe. There's so many new games this Fall/Winter and so many different experiences.

  • Aye I see your point it was the 50.5 pounds that threw me, no matter how you look at it though (and chicken nuggets is a really bad example mind) better comparison would be another game let's say fallout 4.. it's coming out soon and will cost me at MOST 40 pounds, how is one dlc! Worth as much as a full game?

  • I see your point but your only looking at selling price, for example uk mcdonalds have to source thier meat else where rather than america which can source it from thier own country easily, so the price could be inflated due to the price of the base product......but your also forgeting that uk mcdonalds users are actualy willing to pay that amount which is why they are not cheaper. Like dominos who make an 800% profit on just a medium cheese and tomato pizza. It all boils down to gamers willing to pay that amount, the majority are and thats a shame, but that buisness. Maybe the digital taken king by itself will drop in a few months.......one thing is for sure and i bet the majority on here will agree, i realy wish i left destiny until now to get the whole package for just £45. Il be doing this from now on if the game is any good next year.

  • That's the same sentiment as us over here in the US, mate. If you look at last year's Black Friday deals from retail stores like Gamestop, Target and Walmart...Destiny dropped to $40 from $60. However, unluckily for myself and some players, we bought the Deluxe Edition(base game and Dark Below and House of Wolves) of Destiny for around $100 and are forced to buy the Digital Edition of The Taken King (if we don't want to rebuy content). Plus, it's safe to assume the Digital Edition of The Taken King won't see a price drop because it's only purchasable through the Xbox Store or Bungie website. At the moment, the Xbox Store is still selling the Dark Below and House of Wolves at $20 EACH. So..YEAH, it still sucks for some of us First Year Destiny Loyals. However, I hope that the Legendary Taken King Edition DISC (Base game + DB + HoW + TTK) $60 will drop to near $40 come Black Friday again for those who want to pick it up.
