Xbox 360 Information

MAny of the people who search this thread are looking for Halo and Xbox related topics. What I have here is nothing more than links to Xbox 360 documents I have found usefull and enjoyable. This should end ignorant rumors floating about and help fire up the anticipation for this upcoming system. you can find many bits of usefull information Here How Awesome will the next Xbox be? Confirmed facts indicate that the next Xbox will have three 3.0Ghz CPUs operating in parallel. This has mixxed effects. 3.0Ghz is not that powerfull of a CPU. Intell and AMD are coming out with 'Procs in the 4.5 - 5.0 range (expensive, but they exist). The upside with this is the fact that there are three of them working and operating at full capacity. This does not mean that the X360 will run at 9.0Ghz, but instead it means that tasks will be separated into three different sections and each section will be processed individually at 3.0 GHz. How awesome will its games look!? The GPU (video Card) will be quite awesome. For those of you who know anything about videocards, Think about this: A Dx10 compatable card, Vs3.0, 256Vram, and to put the cork on that bottle, it will have a faster clock than two Gforce 6800 ultras in SLI. For those of you who don't much understand the whole computer scene: I will just say this: Doom 3, HalfLife 2 and Far Cry look like crap compared to what this system can produce. What Will It look Like? Well, The most lagit picture is this one on the Team Xbox page Halo 3 or Halo 2.5? No announcements yet. I like to keep my hopes up, though. If you look at the Halo 2 Theatrical trailer, the E3 Announcment trailer, and the teaser Halo 2 add, they all demonstrate killer visuals that werent seen, or possible in-game. perhaps this is a clue to a Halo 2.5, perhaps it's just marketing. UPDATE: Some awesome screens (yes, I said SCREENS) of a next-gen xbox title "2 Days to Vegas" have been put up on IGN. This game is said to be a next gen Xbox360 action game resembling Grand Theft Auto. See them NOW! MAY 12th Has anyone heared of the date May 12th? well, thats the day MTV was given to OFFICIALLY REVEAL the next-gen Xbox. What? MTV? Microsoft is using the May 12 presentation to get a jump on the audience and in-turn spark more interest BEFORE the E3 expo one week later. All I can say is 'I can't wait!' • Ghz is how powerfull a proc. is. The PS3's cell chip is quite a fair deal more powerfull than the Xbox360's 3.0ghz hat-trick. The cell proc. is eight different 2.0ghz cores surrounding a single 4ghz processor. Not only is it an exremely fast chip, but it's also one of the first of it's kind. I'm a fan of both the PS and the Xbox, so I don't care either way. [Edited on 5/2/2005]

 •
Posted by: mnngsbtfs
Posted by: Femi32 I have a question. Most people say that the PS3 is going to be the most powerful console, which has one 4.6 ghz processor that does everything. The Xbox 2 is going to have three 3 ghz processors that does three different things at the same time. Which one is more powerful?
I hate to say it, but the PS3 by a fair margin. The IBM's Cell processer has one central core and eight subprocessing cores. It has an mind-blowing amount of power compared to any current PC or gaming platform.
Please explain. I don't know much about processors. I still don't see how one 4.6 ghz processor is better than three 3 ghz processors.

 •
Posted by: Hunt3r forza blows. have you played the demo? it is such a dissapointment. like GT4, but a little bit worse.
You are one of those who probably think PGR was a good game... Either way: Forza will be the most realistic Xbox Racing Game. Seing as how all other racing games on Xbox are arcade-style racers with physics equivelent to mario-cart, Forza will be a nice addition to the Xbox family of great games. (and yes, I played the demo.)

 • a powerful processor in a console made by an electronics company or a slightly less powerful console built by a software company the pure processing grunt will not matter in the next gen console war as the current xbox is capable of running half life 2 and doom3 and halo 2, not one of these games looks bad the next gen will have a substantial jump in image but how good is the tv were watching on? you can only increase the definition so much before the difference is lost in the translation if xbox 360 can output an image that is at it's very minimum at least 720p with full screen anti aliasing. how much better will it look if the processer is a 4.5 GHz or 3 x 3.0 GHz? edit: and rumors i heard originally suggested 3500+ cores in the xbox and that the dev-kit has the 3000+ cores thus insuring that any games built on a devkit would run perfectly on the more powerful console [Edited on 5/2/2005]

 •
Posted by: Hunt3r forza blows. have you played the demo? it is such a dissapointment. like GT4, but a little bit worse. but external hard drives SUCK. i am hoping to buy the cheap model, get a drive from my work, and google search for "xbox 360 hard drive" and frankenstein style it. that way, i save like $40 and have fun doing it!!
Not that this is the place for this but that demo was a 30% build and the game is receiving reviews that indicate it is much better than GT4 that aside, microsoft is trying to stop the situation where they sell the console at a loss so that they can make ground with the games. this time round they hope to make ground with both. the most expensive component of the xbox was it's hard drive so by selling it separately they will not suffer the same losses. this will also help beat back the PS3 advances later next year because the R + D is paid for and only the components are now being sold. so the combo will be sold as equal or lesser price to the PS3 and the budget model will severely undercut the competition, this will cut-off one of sony's biggest market's in the western world, the casual gamer. the casual gamer will buy the cheapest of the next gen consoles and xbox will be one step ahead in that regard. the hardcore gamer will buy multiple consoles as they want the quality titles not some fanboy console-ism so microsoft is hoping that xbox live and XNA tools will encourage developers to focus on xbox for their triple A games releases, after all why buy a second console if the first one offers all the games you want anyhow? •
Posted by: Cole 116 Wait a second, when is the XBOX 360 actually coming out? Thats all I want to know.
From what I've heard, Microsoft is aiming for a Nov. 2005 release of Xbox 360. This would make sense considering the Holiday season would almost guarantee to move about as many systems M$ can produce (remember those $800 ebay PS2's? Supply and Demand, baby). M$ has done it's homework this time around and knows what it has to do to dethrone Sony from its current position as king of the consoles. The earlier Microsoft can get Xbox 360 out the door, the more likely it will be successful in claiming top spot in the gaming industry, which is quickly overtaking Hollywood as the largest force in the entertainment industry. In short, this is going to be one heck of a show.

 •
Posted by: moose o death I don't know if i wan't a game bundle, maybe a voucher for whatever release title you wan't but not a bundle. i DO however want the HD version and whatever adapters and cables are required for 720p, as i'm going to be buying a 42 inch plasma specifically for xbox 360, in australia we have been stuck with regular definition by xbox and sony for our current gen consoles, so i never bought anything better, so when i sell the house to upgrade to a bigger one i'm putting aside a few thou' for the xbox 360,plasma screen and new surround sound (the old one is showing it's age of late). now back to waiting for forza
forza blows. have you played the demo? it is such a dissapointment. like GT4, but a little bit worse. but external hard drives SUCK. i am hoping to buy the cheap model, get a drive from my work, and google search for "xbox 360 hard drive" and frankenstein style it. that way, i save like $40 and have fun doing it!!

 • The console itself has no internal hardrive. The hardrive will be sold in two different ways: 1 as a separate item to purchase and add on to the console via expansion slot. 2 as part of a more expensive bundle, including an extra controller and a game. also: the console is planned to be released on november this year.

 • actually, making the memory removable is a great idea, and it would definately rake in a ton of extra money for microsoft because they are most likely making deals with other companies who make hard drives to implement them for the xbox 360. plus you might have to buy the removable drive to have one at all, which would make alot for them as well.
