First off, sorry for the click baity title. I have some good ideas I want to share, and it's hard to be heard on the forums. I haven't seen many organized posts addressing Bungie about these, so I decided to make one. If you disagree with me, be sure to comment down below.
The Vault Space Issue
Problem:
Lets face it. We NEED more. Whether or not Bungie will admit it it's true.
This issue has discouraged me from playing the game.
Go ahead and read that line again. That's right, I'm playing less because of this issue. This should be a major red flag to Bungie that they need to make changes. Whenever I get a new weapon, if I want to keep it I HAVE to delete something. In a game based almost entirely on loot, players should not be forced to delete things that they earned. These choices to dismantle previously owned items are often stressful and even upsetting.
Bungie has blamed this issue on last-gen as an excuse for not adding more. This is ridiculous. Anyone with even a slight bit of coding experience knows that variables (aka the items in your vault) take up almost no memory what so ever.
Solution:
1. Multiple pages. Don't try to squeeze everything on one page, this will obviously just take up additional memory. One page for each weapon/armor/material type.
2. Don't render the guns. Removing some of the graphics such as the colored print and the gun itself will definitely clear up some space.
3. Just convert the whole thing to text if you have to, I don't care, as long as I have more space!
4. If Bungie refuses to re design the vault, just make overflow storage on a website online! You would log onto the website with your Bungie ID and the whole website would be a giant vault. You could transfer items from the webpage to your in-game vault. (Number 4 is NOT my idea: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/134637925/0/0/1 )
Weapon Rebalancing
Problem:
I don't know about you, but I'm tired of 3-4 weapons dominating in the crucible. It is really annoying because players are forced into using one of these weapons if they hope to succeed even if their favorite weapon is an auto rifle! Destiny is a game that allows for many different play styles, and in order for this to continue, weapon rebalancing NEEDS to happen.
Shotguns are annoying to say the least, and several weapon types are the only viable choices.
Solution:
1. Add more long range maps. Almost every map in destiny is short range, and this allows shotgunners to run with a shotgun as a primary. Shotguns should be a one shot kill, but they should be VERY situational. A range decrease would also be a less effective, but alternate solution.
2. When rebalancing weapons, DO NOT buff one weapon type and nerf another. This just leads into the cycle of the dominant weapon type just being switched, and no improvment being made.
The Story
Problem:
Destiny has no story. It consists of repetitive missions where your ghost takes forever to open a door and then you fight off tons of enemies. This is obvious, every destiny player knows this. There is a great story in the grimoire, but I have neither the attention span, nor the time to spend hours reading through these cards when each only provides a small taste of the story.
Solution:
1. (Temporary fix) Make grimoire cards viewable in-game. I guarantee more people would read them.
2. Keep the same missions, but just add cutscenes!! Most levels in video games are basically the same, go from point A to point B fight off enemies, complete objective. In my opinion, if you took the Halo series and removed all the cutscenes, you would have a story as bad as Destiny's!
Prison of Elders Issues
Problem:
1. The weapons and gear that players can obtain from running the Prison of Elders isn't nearly as good as what PvP players can get from running Trials of Osiris. It doesn't help that the ship you get from Skolas is a re-skin of basically any other ship you can buy from Variks.
2. Prison of Elders seems really repetitive at times. There are literally two total objectives (Mines and Targets). Some new bosses have great new abilities and creative mechanics, but this isn't enough to make me want to play.
3. Although this is a relatively rare issue and I'm only posting this because it happened to me... there are no checkpoints. It is really frustrating to be kicked right before Skolas and essentially waste over an hour of your time. I know Bungie doesn't want another Gorgon Chest, but this issue needs to be addressed.
Solution:
1. Remove Dreg burn and Shank burn from PoE rockets and snipers. Replace them with more useful perks such as a general damage boost against all PoE enemies! Unfortunately, for the most part, many of the PoE weapons need to be completely redesigned.
2. Add more objectives. Add some cool puzzles we have to complete in a certain time limit!
3. I'm not really sure what to do about this one, maybe Bungie could add a checkpoint every two rounds or so to avoid people abusing the system.
Optional Matchmaking (and why it's important)
Problem:
If we had Optional Matchmaking or some sort of in-game lfg, players without a regular raid team would be able to find a team without having to go through lfg. Lfg is a great resource, but it gets frustrating because it is very possible that no one will be playing the activity you want to do.
A while back when statistics were released showing that less than 10% of guardians had completed a raid, I was shocked. If you haven't raided, you really haven't played the game. I believe that the reason for this is because many players aren't willing to put in the time to find a group, or they don't know how.
Solution:
I would prefer something similar to a built in lfg than just plain matchmaking. The built in LFG could have different filters by level and mic. If you found a group you liked, you could just one click to join. I realize there are concerns with the amount of team work it takes and stuff like that but it all comes down to:
IT'S BETTER TO PLAY AN ACTIVITY AND GET WRECKT THAN NOT PLAY AT ALL
New Players Not Engaged
Problem:
I have talked to many people who played Destiny for a little while, didn't even reach level 20 and just stopped. I have tried to get these people back into it, but they are unwilling to try again because they feel the game is boring.
I agree. Destiny is definitely boring if you experience no end game content. It's definitely easier to level up after House of Wolves came out, but I'm talking about keeping people engaged who aren't too serious about the grind. I believe the statistics of how less than 10% of players have completed a raid prove my point. Beginning players, for the most part, aren't having fun.
Solution:
Add a "mini raid." It would be completely match made, and the game would walk you through the mechanics. It would be unlocked at level 15, and would provide good loot for a level 15 player. This mission shouldn't be that complicated and shouldn't take as long to complete, but it should show enough interesting boss fights and puzzles, that it would make new players eagerly awaiting the day that they'll be able to attempt a "real" raid.
Clan Support
Problem:
Friends lists can often get lengthy, and at current, there is no in-game clan support.
Solution:
Just add a roster in the roster section of the menu that shows all online clan members who are on your console! This would make it a lot easier and more enjoyable to connect with clan members more often.
Crucible Changes
Reached text limit going to speak simply to conserve space.
1. Top player always gets a reward
2. Trials teams switch positions after every round/more balanced maps
3. All game types are permanent. (There's really no point to switch them) Salvage, inferno, doubles, and all the others should be a permanent part of the playlist.
Community Additions
1. Reepersniper
I think a great idea is to have the vault in your ship at the orbit stage. It makes sense. All 3 ships share the 1 vault. Just before the mission or missions you pick your load out of weapons and synth etc then go hunt. If you change characters or enemies you choose your load out for those enemies and specific missions. This way you only need 1 of your favourite weapons not 3 so it's easy. Plus it saves having to find and transfer your Fate bringer etc when you swap characters. Just like a cod game before mission you pick your guns and gear and off you go. You could still use all slots if you wish. Only difference is its in your ship at a loading screen you have to do anyway.
2. Hydrilus
I can't quote Hydrilus because the limit is 10,000 characters, but he would like to see the d-pad being used for a more practical purpose, such as switching subclasses or weapons. He would also want to see Bungie implement matchmaking.
3. Tomalaya1
If I'd add any one thing on, it would be a quick way to swap inventories between characters. I've found this helps with vault space. I get a load out I like for that weeks/day's activities, and the swap it to whichever character I am running. The other characters ten become pure storage when they're not in use
4. Porcratus
Main suggestion is to have our Ghost more usable.
When you bring up your ghost you could hit Square to bring up the Grimmoire or X for a map and Bounty list along the bottom.
Make our Ghost more usable and bring in Ghost Shells.
I realize that no one from Bungie will probably ever read this, but I just wanted to give my 2 cents. (I will be updating this thread as soon as I think of new ideas)
