They weren't cheating at all, what they did was, if anything, a tribute to the HLG days of Halo haha. Bringing back the good old pacifist play. For those who weren't around for Halo 3 or may not have known, there was a small team of players who called themselves the Hidden Masters, and they called their play style HLG (Hidden League Gaming), the less serious counterpart to MLG players. They would start every game by getting about a 3 kill lead, and then hide the very best they could without being discovered, until the game ended. Some of their spots were on ground level but still easy to miss, other spots involved a series of trick jumps and team jumps and were so good that you had to know where those spots were to even think of looking there. They blew up and had a movement that got a pretty decent sized following, spawning other groups that followed their style and many players trying to adopt hiding tactics into games for fun. I did that. Often. It was hilarious. Your opponents weren't cheating, they simply wanted to avoid violence unless absolutely necessary lol.

  • That was -blam!-ing ages ago man, I was like 13 and renamed my gamertag to HLG something and all I did was snipe one guy and hide while watching youtube. Got a temp ban for it though and had to stop.

  • You got temp banned for that? Wow, I've never heard of that happening to anybody, Hidden Master and Hidden Raven used to post those videos up with their whole squad's tags in full display and even they never had action against them haha.

  • So you getting a quick kill, and jumping into a glitch spot for 15 minutes. I fail to see how you staring at a motionless screen was fun. Every party involved just seems to be lessened by the whole ordeal. You just cowering, or the sorry sap who actually stayed the whole match looking for you.

  • It wasn't even just "glitch" spots, many of them could be accessed by anybody, you just needed to know how to jump from one spot to another is all, and several spots wouldn't even require a jump, just corners and nooks in the map itself. The fun comes from winning by being stealthy and watching the enemy team's reactions as they run around trying to find the bad guys like some old black and white cartoon, it's especially hilarious when you're literally crouching right behind them and they don't notice you lol. Plus, the messages afterwards were always great, rarely would you get hate, more often than not anyone I played against gave me props for being unseen or sent me "good game" or "damn you guys were tough to find!" type messages, very few would get angry or upset.

  • Well, that's clever but it still is exploiting the game design and I find it cheap and low. But I will not debate you as we are all entitled to our opinion...

  • All it was, was power of mind over sheer power. The same way the real world works today, there are many who make their living working with their hands and tools, while others still meet the same needs through using their minds. Now granted if I had only hidden in spots that needed to be glitched into that'd be pretty unfair, but more often than not the spots I chose could be accessed by anybody with a few simple jumps, and with the HLG style we never shot first once in a spot, we only fired once fired upon, so if an enemy spotted us and felt like hanging out with us we'd get him and his buddies up there, too haha.
